Chapter 13

He had been so anxious about tonight, and the movie theatre was so warm and dark, Shen Wei had trouble keeping his eyes open.

The movie was so boring too, action movies were all the same but most of the people there seemed to enjoy it - although there were quite a few people writing on facebook or commenting the movie live on twitter... Shen Wei had to restrain himself from going over there and throw away those damn phones! The blinding screens were so annoying inside the dark room, Wei couldn’t tolerate such rude behaviour. Although he had to admit that they helped him in staying awake.

Yunlan was really amused. Wei had insisted on paying for his ticket too, and during the break he had run to get him something to drink and a lot of popcorns, and yet now Yunlan could clearly see that Wei’s eyes kept closing.

At those moments Yunlan would lean down and make some comment related to the movie, and Wei would jump up and pretend he had been paying close attention, agreeing with anything he said.

Yunlan was having lots of fun already.

When the movie ended, Wei was really grateful for the lights and the fresh air once they got out. He only hoped Yunlan didn’t notice his struggle to stay awake.

They started walking randomly. Yunlan talked about the movie munching the rest of the popcorn Wei bought for them but barely touched.

At some point Yunlan said, "It was quite a scene, but you missed it since you were sleeping." Yunlan chuckled.

Wei said immediately, "I wasn’t sleeping!"

"Don’t worry, nobody noticed you snoring over the noises of the car chase."

"I didn’t snore, I was awake, I was very careful not t..."

Yunlan laughed out loud and Wei pouted.
"You’re making fun of me."

Yunlan kept laughing and Wei asked, "I didn’t really fall asleep, did I? Is that why everyone was looking at me when we got out?"

"Oh no, they looked at you because you look like ready for a gala, you’re so elegant you put James Bond to shame."

Wei blushed, not sure if it was a compliment or if Yunlan was letting him know that he was totally out of place. He wanted to look good, maybe he overdid it a little?

"I’m sorry, I hope I didn’t embarrass you."

"Embarrass me? Don’t be silly, everyone was admiring you, I feel like I’m dating a movie star."

Wei smiled blushing a bit, they sat on a bench and stayed a few seconds in a happy silence.

"I'm sorry that you didn't like it, I thought that an action movie would be fun," Yunlan said.

Wei assured him that he wasn't bored at all, the movie was fine. Yunlan wasn't sure if he should believe him, so he teased him a little.

"The actor was also very handsome..."

Yunlan looked at him and laughed seeing that he was pouting again.

"You jealous?" he asked. Wei admired those brown eyes and the way they were shining while he laughed, and murmured a "yes" that took Yunlan's breath away.

"But I'm happy that you had a good time," Wei added, blushing again at how silly he was, being jealous of an actor.

"I'm still having a good time," Yunlan said and felt the truth in those words; it felt so right and so comfortable, being with him now, on this bench. Yunlan felt his heart being moved receiving so much attention from this perfect man who wasn't boring at all once he got to know him a little better.

"Will I see you at the cafè tomorrow?" Wei asked taking Yunlan’s hand in his.

"Well, it’s already late and I’m not really a morning person..." Yunlan replied but he didn’t take his hand away.

"Maybe we can go out again? Tomorrow night?" Wei tried again.

"I’d like to but I already promise ChinChin I’d dine with them."

Wei thought about asking him to go out another day, but he didn’t want to stress him away, so he kept silent. Yunlan looked at his disappointed face.

"But we can go out another night, I will call you!"

Wei smiled, it wasn’t going too bad after all, and he wished this night would never end.

"I have no lessons tomorrow." He said.

Yunlan licked his lips.
"You want something to drink? At my place?"

"I’d like that."

They got up and walked back to the car, still holding hands. At Yunlan’s apartment, they took off their jackets and then kissed, slowly but passionately, savouring each other’s mouths.

When they parted, Yunlan remembered to be polite and went to make them a cup of tea. He decided to make it extra strong, and Wei sat on the couch waiting for him.

It was quite a comfy couch...

Yunlan came back with two cups of strong tea, only to see his elegant professor deeply asleep on his couch.

He smiled at the adorable scene and didn’t have the heart to wake him up.

He went into the bedroom, changed into his pyjamas and folded the bedding, then went to pick up his date. He lifted him up careful not to wake him, one arm under his knees and one to hold his shoulders, and carried him to the bed; he loosened his tie to make him more comfortable before laying down next to him.

Shen Wei woke up quite late feeling something was wrong, he heard no alarm clock and he didn’t feel cat whiskers on his face asking why he wasn’t moving when he clearly should be up giving it breakfast.

He looked around and realised that he wasn’t in his bedroom. He got up and saw a note on the nightstand.

"Gone to work. Didn’t want to wake u. Make urself at home. Yunlan :)"

Wei remembered everything and cursed himself for falling asleep like that. When Yunlan invited him home, the night was clearly supposed to end in a very different way, how could he fall asleep!

He wandered a bit, taking everything in. The place was ‘so Yunlan’ in many ways: it was warm and cosy, and he liked that a lot, but he also noticed how messy it was, so he did the laundry, ironed his clothes, dusted and cleaned everywhere, and also washed the dishes.

When he took the still-full teacups, he mentally punched himself for the hot night he missed on.

After everything was done, he took his jacket, closed the door behind him and took a cab home.
