The Enchantress cast a protective spell on herself and her group, so that they’d be safe against the monster’s poison. The giant spider-like creature was ahead of them, waiting...

The female warrior searched her bag for a potion that would enhance her speed, while the male soldier stayed close to her, they would have to fight the creature up close, it wasn’t going to be easy...

The male archer stayed behind, he was the most inexperienced of the group, luckily he could attack from afar, if the others managed to keep the monster away from him.

WeiLin stayed close to them, ready to help them if help was needed, or to join the battle.

WeiLin: “Are you all ready?”

JianShu the archer: “Maybe we should do it easy, I’m not sure I can be of much help.”

JunRen the soldier: “Don’t worry, you stay back and we will take care of it.”

LanLan the female warrior: “Yeah, if it’s too easy it’s no fun at all.”

WeiLin: “It’s fine for me. Ready when you are.”

JunRen and LanLan ran forward and attacked the creature. JianShu was a little scared, but tried to keep himself as far away from the monster as possible, and threw one arrow after the other, he didn’t want to appear completely useless. The spider jumped back and sprayed its terrible poison on them, not knowing that they had the protection of the enchantress. LanLan was right in front of it but was not affected by it at all.

WeiLin: “I told you it would work.”

LanLan: “Once again, I must thank u for ur protection.”

WeiLin: “My pleasure, now let’s finish this thing off.”

Immediately Lan Lan started swinging her giant black sword at the monster, while JunRen used his shield against those horrendous legs before using his sword to help his ally.

WeiLin chanted a spell, her long hair became white, her staff glowed before she sent her powerful spell against the enemy.

The spider’s most powerful tool had been its poison, without it it could only count on its physical strength; still, it was a huge beast, and her strength was no joke.

JianShu couldn’t hit it anymore from where he was, so he tried to sneak behind it to find a good spot, but the creature noticed him and threw itself at him. The impact was too much for JianShu, he was sent several meters away and lay there, unmoving.

LanLan: “Our archer is down already, he didn’t last much did he?”

WeiLin: “We knew he wasn’t strong enough, that’s why we came here to help him with this monster.”

JunRen: “Then let’s do it, the sooner we finish it, the sooner we can go to him.”

WeiLin chanted again, moved her staff in a circular motion granting her companions additional strength. They attacked it together, slashing its body from opposite sides, giving it no time to recover.

Soon the creature lay dead, it was over.
The three surviving companions hurried to revive JianShu.

JianShu: “Damn, I died too quickly, there was no way I could have done it alone.”

WeiLin: “You need a better defence, that armour is not good enough for a starter.”

JianShu: “ 😫  All the good ones cost too much.”

JianShu: “Anyway, thanks for your help guys.”

LanLan: “Don’t mention it, we are all part of the same guild, after all.”

JunRen: “If you need help with the next level, don’t hesitate to ask the guild, someone will help you again for sure.”

JianShu: “I’ll do that, thanks. I must go now, my break is over.”

LanLan: “Me too, I really have to go.”

WeiLin: “It’s a pity there aren’t magic spells for that too.”

LanLan: “I’ll be here again tonight, see u later?”

WeiLin: “Sure.”

And they logged off.

WeiLin’s magic skills were really good, LanLan really admired her ability. LanLan’s role was easier in a way, it consisted simply of finding good weapons and launching herself against the monsters, or at least that’s how she saw it. She would have needed much more, had she played alone, but since she started there was always WeiLin ready to help her.

Even now, LanLan didn’t even have to ask.
“Give me your armour, I can enchant it for you.”

LanLan traded it without thinking twice about it, no fear whatsoever that she might want to trick her and not give it back. They had been playing together for weeks, every day, WeiLin had taught her a lot and they often wrote to each other using the private chat.

WeiLin was an only child like LanLan, but had always wished for the company of a sibling.
“Other children had imaginary friends, I had an imaginary brother, I used to call him Yezun and promised him that we would always protect each other.”

LanLan laughed and replied, “I never had imaginary friends, I had enough of my cousin already, actually he was the main reason I learned to defend myself!”

“Did he fight you?”

“Not really, but he was always the macho type, sure u know it too.”

LanLan liked to talk to her about everything, past or present, from important things to silly everyday details.

WeiLin gave her back the armour, now better than it was before. “A good defence is important,” and LanLan sent her a smiley.

“Did he ever stop?”

“?”

“Your cousin, did he ever stop playing the macho around you?”

“Nah, hes like that, but hes family so...”

“I understand,” she said, then after a second WeiLin added, “Do you want me to put a curse on him?”

LanLan sent her a 😂 and WeiLin wrote: “I’m happier when you smile.”

“ur a real gem, ❤ you”

“Me too.”

“c u tonight?”

“Of course.”

Shen Wei closed his computer and hide it inside his bag. He smiled thinking about it, what would his students think if they knew that he liked playing video-games? It was an excellent stress-reliever! He had been playing this game for a year now, but he still enjoyed it.

Not for the first time, he wondered if it was possible that he knew some of the other players in real life... after all they were all playing in the Dragon City server, so there was a high chance that they were all living in the same city...

But every time he dismissed the thought, it was a big city after all, many people lived here and never met in a lifetime.

He had to hurry now, his class was waiting. He got up, checked that he had put his poetry and literature books in his bag too, closed his office and headed towards his next class.
