Wei didn’t show up at the cafè, stayed inside the university all day and went straight home without looking around, to avoid any chance of meeting Yunlan.

He paced back and forth in his living room, to DaQing’s great annoyance, waiting for the time LanLan would log in. Unable to wait any longer, he logged in the game and kept checking if ‘she’ was online.

He kept thinking it can't be and finally he saw the name, LanLan was online.

He took a deep breath and wrote a greeting like always, then he wrote: "I'm sorry about yesterday, it was an emergency."

"np, ur still my fav 😁"

Wei shivered, then decided to go for it.
"Did you see him today?"

There was a long pause then, "No... 😥"

Wei held his breath. "Did he tell you he'd see you today?"

Another pause, shorter this time. "No, but we always have coffee together."

Wei felt like fainting. "Are you sure that he's free? Not married or in any relationship?"

Another pause. "I didnt ask. u think hes married?"

"I just want you to be safe, it’s better to be sure right?"

“...”

"Why the dots? Are you worried?"

"No, ur right."

Then LanLan added:
"u always right ❤"

Wei couldn’t go on, he needed to have his heart calm down and think about it, so he shifted the conversation onto the game and they kept chatting for a while longer.

Wei entered the cafè feeling so nervous, he thought everyone could see thru his soul just by looking at him.

He spotted Yunlan right away and moved towards him. He tried to act normal as if nothing had happened, but failed miserably.

Yunlan thought his odd behaviour was because of what happened at his home the other day, and wondered if he had gone too far too soon.

They drank their coffee and Wei noticed that Yunlan was looking at him in a weird way and thought, Is he going to ask me if I’m married?

The coincidences were starting to pile up too much to be just that, but he still had trouble accepting it.

~~~~~
WeiLin was right of course, Yunlan had to be sure. The professor had never talked about anyone and he had no rings, but that was no proof... they had finished their coffee by now, so Yunlan started, "About the other day, when I... you... you’re not married are you?"
Wei gave him a little helpless smile. "No, I’m not."
Yunlan laughed an awkward laugh then said, "That’s... that’s good. Neither am I of course."
After that, they went to work.
That night, Wei wanted to learn more but he didn’t even have to ask. ‘LanLan’ didn’t waste any time and immediately wrote to him.
"He’s not married!!"
Wei pondered his words very carefully and wrote, "It’s good that you’re both free."
"Yeah 😀😁"
Wei looked at the screen. LanLan wouldn’t lie to him...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Even though he had no lessons today, Shen Wei went to the cafè anyway, to have his morning coffee with Yunlan.
