I sighed as I peered out of the window as Ms. Newtown dragged on about Spain. I sighed as the rain fell from the grey clouds to the groud with a constant patter. Rebecca's words kept ringing around my head. 'he does stuff to you Callie.' It repeated itself, seeming to get louder the more I thought about it. Was Rebecca right? Did Jay really cheated on her? Did he really do things to your head? Or was Rebecca just lying? It wouldn't be shocking if she was. I loud sigh escaped my lips.
"I'm sorry ms. Woods. Am I boring you?" She asked. My head instantly shot up and a blush ran to my face. Only then did I realize how loud my sigh was.
"Sorry." I apologized.
"Lo Siento." She corrected me. Huh?
"What?" I asked her, confused.
"We're in Spanish, right? I believe the right thing to say is Lo Siento." I raised my eyebrow.
"Um, okay..." This teacher could talk for the world. Once she started on something, I knew we was in for a lecture. Whether it be the most simple things, like weather or manners. It's like she already had some speech prepared in her head. She didn't know when to stop. I grumbled as I realized we still had 30 minutes left.
"Listen up!" She yelled, clapping her hands to get everyone's attention. She walked to the front of the class as she waited for silence. That failing, she started to count. "3" Everyone ignored her. She walked over to the board and searched for a whiteboard pen. She unclipped the lid and wrote '1.' I knew that meant we were staying behind for atleast 1 minute after the bell. I moaned to myself, not being brave enough to shush everyone.
"2" Ms. Newton continued to count down as everyone ignored her. She rubbed out the '1' she had previously written, and replaced it with a '2.' I wish everbody would just shut up! I could see Ms. Newton growl to herself. What was that about? Was she a lion? Shaking that thought away, Ms. Newton had already rubbed out the '2' and put a '3.' I mumbled a swearwor to myself before resting my head on the table.
"Everyone listen, now!" She shouted, anger written all over her face. "You already have 3 minutes off your break, I can easily add more! Even as I'm talking now, people are still talking over me! Danny, stop talking to Adisa! Callie get your head off the table! Seriously, the manners in this class are disgusting!" She spat out. Immediatly as she mentioned my name, my head shot up in embarrasment. I tried to look down at the table to avoid eye contact with everyone else. The class finally silenced.
"Now that's better." She commented. "What I wanted to tell you was something really nice! Basically- Danny get out!" She yelled, pointing at Danny, who had been talking continuesly. She watched him, rolling her eyes, as he walked out.
"Does anybody else want to get out!? That would make my job easier!" She yelled, before calming down. "OK so as I was saying, we have something lovely for you to enjoy! It's Spanish exchange month, and were going to send a couple of students over there while we recieve some of their students. Also, for the students that don't get to go, they'll be communicating with Spanish students through letters and webcam and so on. It's a really good oppurtunity for you lot. Are there any questions?"
Adisa, some girl in my Spanish class, raised her hand. Ms. Newton nodded at her, implying that she should speak. "How much is the trip if you go?"
"It would be 250." She informed us. I frowned, that would mean I couldn't go. Where was I going to get the money from? I couldn't afford that. Oh well. I guess I'd just have to web-chat one of them. Not like I wanted to do this stupid exchange anyway. As lovely as Spain sounded, it just couldn't afford it.
"Does that include the hotel fees?"
"You won't be living in hotels. You have to live in a Spanish persons house." what the..? What if they were like murderers? I wasn't sure of this idea.
