"Christopher? What uh- what are you doing here?" I finally spat out, twisting my tounge back to it's structure.
"Uh Danielle told me you'd got into am accident..." He said, his eyes not leaving me once. Not even to blink.
"Oh..."
"So how are you?" He asked.
"Great," I replied sarcastically, pointing to my black eye and scratched up face.
"That bad, huh?" He asked, sitting down next to me. I was suprised he asked casual questions like this. I thought he'd react more... Different. We hadn't seen each other in years and the last time we saw each other, we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I thought he'd atleast ask me why I didn't answer my phone or e-mails or anything.
"Not as bad as it should be," I commented, sighing. Why did he have to turn up at this perticualar day? At this time? My head was already messed up, I guessed he was going to mess with it somemore.
"What do you mean?"
"Nevermind," I replied, not feeling up for telling him the story.
He looked me right in the eyes as he reached for my hands. I watched him carefully, trying to read what he was going to do.
"Callie," He spoke softly, stroking my hands gently. I gulped. "I've never stopped loving you."
I frowned, hoping he wouldn't say that clearly didn't help as he did. I mean what can you respond to that? Especially in my circumstances right now. Danielle's such an idiot! Why would she call him? She knows what's going on with me!
Why was it always me with the bad luck? That sounds so selfish and I sound so stuck up, but it's always me the one that has the issues and the evenful life. If it's not living in a disabled home, it's almost getting hit by a car.
I imagined if I just listened to what Jay had to say. If I did none of us would have been in this mess. I wouldn't have started to cry. Danielle wouldn't have stopped me. The car wouldn't have came at us and Jay wouldn't have had to push me.
I was drenched in my guilt. I was so drenched I felt like I was going to be sick. Even if I didn't listen, if my legs just moved none of this would have happened!
"Uh," My throat suddenly went dry as I swallowed. "But all that time we didn't talk..." was all I managed to say. It sounded stupid. I sounded stupid.
"I know what happened, and I know you needed your space. And that's why I waited for you,"
I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" I questioned.
"I mean, since the last time I saw you I've waited to see you. I haven't had a girlfriend since. I only want you."
It felt like not a brick, but a house had just been dropped on my whole body, hard. How was I going to respond to that?
My feelings hadn't changed for Christopher, they'd just been adjusted slightly. Since Jay came in, he took some of those feelings. At points, I totally forgot about Christopher, which made me feel bad when he looked me in the eye and told me that.
