Kait's brown orbs gazed through the glass doors at the room filled of teenage girls and her heart was like a lion's running after its prey.
Fear, doubt and nerves kicked into her head.
How could her story help them?
She was putting herself out there and for what?
What if they judged her?
How would she ever live this down?
Her hands trembled at her sides as she closed her eyes shut tight and mouthed the words.
"God I need you."
Her insides shook but as she heard Pastor Duncan say.
"I'd like to welcome a past pupil of mine, a hard worker, a powerful daughter of God to speak to you today. Help me welcome Kaitlyn."
Her lids opened as she glanced up at the ceiling before walking through the doorway.
She was greeted with a round of applause as she stepped into the room. The number of girls in the classroom caught her off guard.
She was expecting forty girls for the most but the room was filled with girls of all different shades and sizes.
The light bounced off of the grey walls of the classroom as eyes were glued on her. Her mind told her that they were silently judging her, picking her apart piece by piece.
She gulped, unsure if she could do this but she was here already there was no turning back. She had to face her Goliath.
With a smile plastered on her face, she felt anything but strong but she knew in her spirit the time had come to let her truth be known.
"Good morning WestShore High."
She allowed the words to leave her lips, her voice holding a fervency that she didn't feel on the inside.
"It's a pleasure to be here this morning speaking to a room filled of beautiful ladies. Might I say that you all look radiant and lovely this morning... Before we get into the juicy and gory details of my past, I just want to start off with a word of prayer so can we bow our heads and close our eyes as we thank our Heavenly Father."
Light chuckled were heard throughout the room as every head bowed and eyes closed.
Kait raised her hands to the sky.
"Father God we thank you for life, we thank you for waking us up to see another day. Father, this morning I thank you for each and everyone of these young ladies that you've placed in the room today. I pray that as I speak, their hearts will be touched and they would leave this room different than the way they entered. Stronger... with a passion for you Father. I pray that You use me as Your vessel as Your mouth peace to inspire others through the words of my testimony and I thank you for doing it Father in Your most precious name I pray, Amen."
She opened her eyes and it was like if a wave of strength flowed through her. Kait felt different than when she first walked into the room. She knew her story could touch others and even though she felt embarrassed by it, she wasn't going to let her past define her. She was no longer that person. She was a new creation.
"Firstly I just want to start by saying that this is far from a teaching, I am far from a teacher... I'm just here to talk to you girls, have a little conversation. So I want us all to get comfortable. Shake off the nerves as I open the floor for four questions about me and then we'll begin."
Kait shook her arms and legs easing the silence in the room. She took a seat on top of the mahogany desk at the front of the classroom.
"So who's going to be the brave first person to ask a question?"
