5 Stages of Grief

Life is nothing but a fragile gift.

While most of us treasure it,

Others of us grieve after losing it.

We never know how long we'll live...

Or when it's our time to go.

We can never imagine seeing our loved one pass,

But when one does,

We wish we could have made their life last.

We sit and think of our life choices.

Denying all that has happened.

And telling yourself everything is fine...

It's All Just A Dream!

You'll lay there in the casting shadows,

Mind reeling away,

Fishing after every thought.

Soon you may feel a little..

ANGRY.

You'll yell and scream at God himself!

OH WHY GOD DID YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM!?!?

Then you'll sit there and cry and try to reason with God.

Take me not him!

It should have been me!

You'll beg and plead and ask him why.

And soon you'll start to feel the throbbing pain inside.

It'll nag at your heart like swirling darkness.

All alone with your thoughts,

Nowhere to run!

Maybe you'll just sleep all day...

Or maybe not at all.

But in the end..

You finally learn to accept it.

After all, there is only one thing in this world that is 100% guaranteed...

DEATH.

You'll attend his funeral,

With sadness clouding your eyes..

But you think to yourself,

Oh he's in a much better place now..

A place where he can fish with his rod of gold,

A place where he'll finally have a cabin by the lake...

Where the fish will always bite..

(inspiration for the rod of gold/cabin by lake/always bite: Fishing in the Sky, Travis Smith)

And you'll sit here... Like me... writing a poem...

Cause I wish he were still here..

But I've learned to accept the fact,

That he won't be on earth no longer..

But he'll be happy...

Fishing in the sky.
