I watch the stars up above,
Never needing a reason to stay strong.
God made me,
Broke me,
Then rearranged me.
All those protesters say we're a sin to God's name,
The blood pounds in my veins.
Cause tell me..
If we're a sin,
Then why'd God create us?
Cause I clearly remember a line,
That went something like this,
We are created in God's image,
He creates everything about us,
Knows who we are,
Before we're even born.
Now I'd say,
If God didn't like queers,
Then why did he make us?
I try not to fight my battles with physical contact,
Always tryna keep it positive,
Always using my words,
Cause I know violence hurts.
But I,
Can't help to see these protesters stupidity,
And yeah maybe my opinion is a little biased,
But I know my community,
And yes, for you protesters,
I'll try to be my gayest.
And if you don't like who we are,
Then why even acknowledge our existence?
Straight people tryna have their own pride?
I say why?
Cause you see,
You don't have to worry about being straight,
Because straight is the default.
Man and woman.
Where as LGBTQ+,
We are shunned,
Afraid to hold the hand of our lover in public,
Because they happen to be the same gender.
Afraid to come out and be who we are.
We have fought so hard to get this far.
We have suffered many losses,
Many people died,
Just for being who they are.
In some countries, not being straight is against the law,
And you could get stoned to death.
Many people don't realize that our community is still receiving hate.
Many people don't understand,
That being who we are isn't a choice we make.
We don't come out of our mothers womb,
Silently thinking,
"Hey, I'm going to be queer now."
No,
Just like a straight person doesn't choose to like the opposite gender.
Everyday us queers have to pretend we're something that we aren't,
Crawling in our skin,
Begging to let ourselves free.
But we can't for the chance that someone will react badly,
And that the next day,
Our body will be found in a ditch.
We sometimes fear that we'll get shot, stabbed or raped.
So instead we hide ourselves.
A straight person doesn't have to worry about all that.
Do they?
They can love their significant other,
Without being judged or hated.
That is why there isnt a straight pride.
Straight people haven't suffered,
For being who they are.
I was 12, middle of 7th grade,
When I came out to my parents.
It wasn't the way I wanted to.
Oh not at all.
I was dating this girl secretly,
And they found her number in my phone,
Telling me that I had to delete her number and never speak to her again.
But that's when I broke down crying and said I can't.
When they asked why,
I looked them dead in the face,
And said she's mine.
I had a good outcome,
They were pretty supportive.
But for everyone,
This may not always be the case.
Some people got kicked out of their house,
Some almost murdered by their family,
And others told they couldn't be themselves,
or else.
But I'm here to say,
That if you've ever been abused or mistreated,
Just because you are lesbian, bi, trans, or gay,
I'm here for you,
I'd totally adopt you if possible.
Shower you with hugs and support that you never received,
Because I never want to see a human being,
Being mistreated and overseen.
Together,
We are LGBTQ...
And Love is love.
Forever and always.
And we just can't change who we are.
So be proud to be yourself.
