I Am From...

I am from skinned knees,

Warm hugs and kisses,

And feeling the wind from the branches,

High up in the trees.

I am from 80's music,

Always dancing and singing.

I am from catching a roly-poly,

Watching them curl up into tiny balls.

I am from strict rules, staying within the curfew,

And piles of endless vegetables.

The scent of apple cinnamon and sweet vanilla,

Always filling the room.

I am from never dancing in the rain,

And the work before the play.

I am from 9 years of friendship,

Many secrets and memories to be shared.

I am from playing Minecraft days on end,

Never playing with Barbies, but Hotwheel Cars.

I am from toy food and kitchen utensils,

And playing in the warm summer day dirt.

I am proud to be who I am.

And I am the me I want to be.
