Hazel’s POV
Today is Dylan’s birthday, My Dad and I are going to his grave this morning. I put on my knee length black dress and put my hair in to a French twist. My Dad wore his best suit; he looks so good today. It’s all for Dylan, our dearest Dylan. He drive away to the cemetery where Dylan is buried, and we walked down to his grave. I stared blankly at his grave, thinking, how can such a precious person has to be taken away so fast. I couldn’t even remember how Dylan looked like when he was in the coffin, lying there, lifeless. I didn’t even remember how he looked like when we found out that his soul had left his body as fast as a serpent getting off its castoff skin and just leave. Even though his soul is not in his body anymore, I still can feel his presence around us, me and Dad, somehow. He I gently bent down and the bouquet near his grave stone, “Happy Birthday Dylan. Hope you’re in a better place by God’s side now,” I smiled and blow a kiss to his grave stone. My Dad wrapped his arm around my shoulder and did the same thing. “I miss him Dad,” I looked up to him and leaned my head on his chest. “Me too, sweetheart,” He kissed the top of my head.
“So do I,” Said a middle aged woman who suddenly appeared behind my dad. Yes it was my Mum. She wore a long black dress and her hair was styled in a classic up do.
“Steph, come here.” My Dad gestured here to join a family hug, as if there’s nothing happen between them anymore.
“Look Casey, Hazel. I’m so sorry that I left you two several years ago, I’m sorry that I choose my job over you two. I know Dylan died at such a young age, I really loved him, I love you so much Dylan, I feel like I’ve lost my entire world. I always fight my therapist, I didn’t took the pills she suggested me. I became such a monster for the last 3 years, until yesterday; my beautiful daughter came into my office with that tall lad, who’s the son of my therapist. When I saw her face after about 4 years, she had grown in to a beautiful teenager, I couldn’t think straight; I thought about how much I missed my family, so I told her to go out. I’m so sorry Hazel,” The tears started to fall down from her eyes which covered in a stylish shades. “A few minutes later I got a text from my husband, he would like to take me out for lunch he said. But when I got out of the elevator, the tall guy with lip ring said that he wanted to talk to me.”
“Mum, his name is Luke,”
“Well, he talked about something that changed my heart from a hard rock to a soft marshmallow,” She shed her tears. “He asked me if Dylan’s happy to see us as a broken family like this. I was too weak to answer, my tongue tied, and I didn’t want to be too obvious in front of such a young lad like Luke, so I pushed him away which I’m sorry about. And you came Casey, you kind of re-proposed me in front of everybody at the office with our beautiful wedding ring and asked if I would like to go back to this family. And yes, I love you so much,” She kissed my Dad.
“It wouldn’t happen if Hazel didn’t said that the night before,” My Dad said after he let go.
“What did she say?” My Mum asked.
“ ’If you think she’s the one why would you gave up on her’ that what she said, I felt so stupid for not trying to get you back for many years.” He wrapped us in to a family hug. The first family hug after about years after Dylan passed away.
Thanks God, I finally have my family back.
I was looking around in the cemetery when I realized Luke’s Dad was buried next to my brother’s grave. I took a strand of white rose from my brother’s grave, and put it on the top of Mr. Hemmings’ grave, “Dylan, I guess you have to share a strand this year.” I knelt down on his grave and thanked him for such a good looking son who helped me through this family problem. When I’m done, we came home, the three of us, as a real family after about 3 years. My Mum decided to celebrate it with a fancy dinner in our house, she said she’s gonna cook, and told me to invite Luke and his mum, so I text him.
