I’ve never been so excited for a Monday before. I walked down the school hallway to my locker and I saw Luke leaning on his locker. He smiled as soon as he noticed me. “Hi Singleton,”
“Hemmings.” I smiled back at him, made him walked towards me. “How was your weekend?” I asked him.
“Playing my x-box all day was fun. How’s yours?”
“Boring, whatever.”
“That’s cool.” He smiled, knowing that I didn’t go anywhere.
“Hazel,” The familiar voice of Patrick called me from the distance causing me to turn around. “I… have to go. So, I’ll see you around?”
“Yeah, looking forward to it.” He smiled.
I turned around and walked to Patrick. “Who the fuck is that?!” He asked.
“Just a guy from class,” I hope he didn’t notice that his name is Luke. I turned my head to Luke, giving him one last look before my boyfriend walked me into the class since we were in the same class in the first period. I saw him stared agitatedly at the floor and muttered some inappropriate words in a low voice before he turned around, didn’t even realized I was checking on him one last time. ‘If I told Patrick that it was Luke, he must have beaten the shit out of him.’ I thought to myself.
My classes before the lunch break were good as always. I hadn’t seen Luke around of course because Patrick was always with me the entire time in school. Including now, I have to sit on a lunch table with him, and his friends, and also their girlfriends. I didn’t even bother to join the conversation they had on the table because I was busy looking for Luke whose now nowhere to be seen. He usually sit alone on that table in the corner, but he wasn’t there. I wasn’t supposed to be worried about him, he could take care of himself and he said he was looking forward to see me around today. But I swear that Luke is a keeper; he keeps his words.
“Baby, I’m sorry I can’t drive you home today after school, I have a very important meeting with my team mates for the upcoming match. Would you be okay with that?” He said while he walked me into the classroom.
“It’s okay. I’ll be fine.” I smiled to him as I let go of his hand which was holding on mine since we walked out of the cafeteria. I was happy at the moment, to finally be alone again.
“So, I’ll pick you up tomorrow for school at 7?”
“I might drive to school tomorrow, I’ll let you know.” I turned around and walked in to the class.
The bell to end the last period had rang. I walked to the locker after the hallway wasn’t too crowded, wandering around to see if Luke was somewhere around here; but again, he was nowhere. I decided to go to the toilet to fix my non-appealing make up and wash my hands. I wasn’t supposed to feel disappointed because I hadn’t find Luke anywhere, but I just couldn’t resist the urge to meet Luke and see his beautiful face again after this morning. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do. I felt so terrible at the moment so I decided to walk out of the school building.
“Hey, Singleton!” Said a voice from outside. There he was, Luke Hemmings, standing there with hands in his pocket. My heart started to race, the excitement started to creep through my veins.
“I didn’t notice you were there,” I smiled at him.
“Of course you didn’t.” He scoffed as he leaned his back on the staircase. “I didn’t know that we’re up to something today,” He continued.
