Today is the day of the engagement party Mom planned for me and Mal. Allison designed my dress and it is absolutely gorgeous.

Jay, Mal, Ben and I walked to the top of the school as everyone cheered and waved. I hugged and kissed Mother and Dad. We stood, facing the school and Ben began to speak.
"Lady Mal, Brielle, Jay, and I wanna thank you for celebrating our engagement with us today." He turns to Mal, "I couldn't be prouder or happier to call you my Queen." Jay squeezes my hand and I grin at him.
"So... raise your glasses. To our future Queens of Auradon." Everyone raises their glasses and yells, "To our Queens of Auradon!" Carlos yells, "Speech, Your Special-ness." Jay grins teasingly at Mal, "Yes, speech, Your Fancy One." Everyone laughs and Mal laughs and then pauses.
After a moment she says, "I can't. I can't be Queen of Auradon."
Everyone gasps and I turn to look at Jay, who shakes his head. "Mal?" Ben asks. Mal explains, "I can't turn my back on the Isle." She turns to address the crowd, "We- Ben and I- made a decision... to close the barrier forever. And it was my idea. But it's wrong. I've learned... that you can't live in fear... because it doesn't actually protect you from anything."
"You never know where the bad is gonna come from. And you never know where the heroes are gonna come from either. Without Uma and her pirates, Auradon would be gone. And without Hades... my father..." That announcement caused a louder gasp from the audience and Mal continues, "Audrey would be gone."
"We are all capable of good and bad, no matter which side of the barrier we come from. And that's why I can't be Queen of just Auradon. I have to be Queen of the Isle, too. And it's time that we take the barrier down forever."
Ben and I grin, but Dad insists, "We can't do that." I shake my head, "It's up to us, Dad. I always wanted to bring down that barrier. It's up to Ben to decide now."
Ben smiles, "I choose to be a King who moves forward. It's time for forgiveness. It's time for new beginnings. The barrier will come down!" Carlos yells, "Yes! Whoo!" Everyone laughs and claps. I wave the Evie and Carlos up and FGM gives Mal the wand. We all group around her and say the spell.
"To make the world a better place...we have to do it face to face."
The barrier slowly breaks down and the bridge is rebuilt. Everyone claps and cheers. Even Queen Leah claps.
