Chapter 60

If I was asked ten seconds ago of what's the best thing that could happen, I would say leaving this family lunch date and taking off with the love(s) of my life-- that is of course Nash with Quinn, Eric, Ryan, Nathan, and Ryland

If I was asked ten seconds ago of what's the best thing that could happen, I would say leaving this family lunch date and taking off with the love(s) of my life-- that is of course Nash with Quinn, Eric, Ryan, Nathan, and Ryland.

Ten seconds ago, it was all I wanted to do. But after that ten seconds past, it made me want to stay and watch. The beginning of lunch at the Triple L's private dining room was at first awkward and dreadful.

Quince, riding on his high horse, kept talking over our, graduates', conversation as he would change the topic to his wedding. How selfish could he get? Then, Ian Sanders backed him up by trying to convince us to stay for their wedding.

It was neither Quinn, Nash, Nathan, Ryan, Eric, or I that have interrupted and exploded at the couple's annoying chattering, but rather it was my mom. It only led to Mrs. Heart exploding back at her.

Boy, it surely felt like watching a reality tv show.

"For goodness sake, Elizabeth. Your child has been a selfish brat and you're letting him get away with it," my mom growled.

"Leave Quince alone, okay? He's not doing anything wrong. In fact, he was the one that offered to pay for their vacation trip," Mrs. Heart snapped back.

"So that they can stay for his freaking wedding," my mom retorted. "Elizabeth, it's your other kid's freaking damn graduation. She's the valedictorian for crying out loud and yet you still can't seem to accept her as your daughter and be proud of her." That's all it takes for me to forgive my mom.

I'm not sure if she knows but Quinn North was valuable to me and I care so much for her. For someone defending her in her honor serves my respect to that person.

"I am proud of her," Mrs. Heart fired back.

"No, you're not," my mom said calmly, "because if you were, the first thing you would have done when the ceremony ended was to at least give her a tight hug or a smile that explained how proud you are of her, but nope! You still chose to let your ego do your actions for you. You still chose to be a stubborn woman. That's not the Liz I befriended years ago."

"You don't see it, that's why. I have a different way of showing my love for my kids. I don't scold my kid for not getting a hundred percent on a test. I don't yell at them for being irresponsible like what you do."

"And how do you show your love, huh?" Nash intervened, turning all our heads to his direction. "Is it by forgetting about Quinn? Is it by blaming her for your mistakes? Is that how you show your love? That's how you love?"

"Quinton-" Mrs. Heart sighed and was quickly cut off.

"It's okay, Nash," Quinn cuts her off, "You don't have to stand up for me."

"Everyone, please settle down," Quince announced. "Set your problems aside for later."

Was his skull that thick? Gawd, I lost so much respect for this dude. I never knew he could be so selfish and arrogant like this.
