Chapter 32
Peter's POV
I can't believe that I'm engaged to the love of my life. If you had asked me a few years ago if I imagined that I'd be getting married to the father/mentor figure who practically raised me alongside Aunt May during my teen years, I would have roared in laughter because it sounds so ridiculous. I love this man more than life itself. I'd take a bullet for him (hopefully it doesn't ever come to that though). My poor baby still has PTSD from when half of the universe turned to dust after the first battle with Thanos. I lost him for five years. Five years is a long time to be separated from someone you love dearly.
Tony and I are sitting on his bed, the both of grinning like fools. "When do you want to get married exactly? What date screams the "perfect wedding date" to you?" He bites his lip. "April 15th." I snort. "Did you really just reference Mean Girls?" He smirks. "I sure did. What are you going to be about it, be a man boy to me?" I blush like a tomato. "Only you could make a simple statement come across as kinky. On a serious note, April actually is a good time of year to get married." He shouts in triumph. "April 15th it is then! Only five months my dear love!" I shake my head and laugh. "You're something else Tony." He bows playfully. "I know but that's why you love me." I nod in agreement. "Yeah I do."
I make a written note on a calendar that April 15th will be our wedding day. "It's official, we have our wedding date set. One wedding detail down, only a thousand more to go." I flop down onto the bed and he mimics me. "This is going to be a fun adventure Peter. Are you excited?" I nod. "I sure am but we definitely need a wedding planner to make sure everything runs smoothly." He smiles. "I know just the person." Tony picks up his phone and calls... Pepper. I hope she says yes but I'll understand if she doesn't. I don't want her to feel pressured into doing this. It might trigger memories of her own wedding with Tony." I quietly ease drop on Tony and Pepper's conversation.
"Pep, you can totally say no if this request makes you uncomfortable, but Peter and I were wondering if you'd like to be our wedding planner? You're already my right hand at work but I know you'd be the very best person to fill this role. It's entirely up to you but I really hope you'll agree to it." There's a moment of silence on the other end before Pepper speaks again. "I'll do it." Shock forms on both of our faces. Tony clears his throat to hide the shock. "Really? That's wonderful! Thank you so much Pepper! The wedding date we have set is April 15th. We'll work out the rest of the wedding details between the three of us. We'll start tomorrow. Enjoy your evening with Morgan." I can vividly hear her request to put her on speakerphone for a moment. Tony raises an eyebrow but does as she asks.
"Peter, can you hear me?" "I can indeed. What's up?" "I just wanted to reassure you that this isn't awkward for me in the slightest and I'd be honored to plan the wedding. I want to ease you and Tony's stress a bit during this eventful time. Weddings are more complex than people make them out to be. They go beyond picking a wedding date and a venue. I'll take care of a majority of the complex matters. Take care." "T-Thank you Pepper and take care." Her and Tony say their goodbyes and he ends the call. I smile up at him. "We're getting married." He leans down and pecks me on the lips. "We're getting married love." I cuddle with him until I fall asleep, feeling absolutely at peace.
