Chapter 27

Tony's POV

Time Skip... Two Months Later...

  Peter and I are having a private meeting with Pepper and Happy to discuss methods of Peter and I telling the world about both our relationship and the annulment between Pepper and I. Enough time has passed that we feel comfortable doing so. Peter seems a little hesitant but he doesn't want to let fear hold him back, which of course is admirable. I squeeze Peter's hand under the table several times throughout the meeting to reassure him that everything is going to be fine. I'll even do so during the public announcement to the media too. I'm not ashamed to comfort my baby when needed. 

    When we all finally settle on a decent way to break the news to the media, Happy sends out mass tweets to all of the local media companies and soon enough we're all gathered up on the roof of Stark Tower together. I take a deep breath before stepping up to the podium that Pep quickly managed to set up for us. "Thank you for everyone for coming. I know it was short notice but the announcements that I have to make are important." The media reporters lean on the edge of their seats, clearly eager to hear what I'm about to say. "The first announcement is that Pepper Potts and I had a peaceful annulment three months ago to end our marriage." Several audible gasps are heard before the bombarding of repetitive questioning begins. 

    I wait a few minutes for all of the ruckus to die down before I continue. "The reason for that isn't because I don't love Pepper because I do very much, but I needed a chance to explore my sexuality. I'm not heterosexual... but rather Bisexual." Pictures are being snapped of me at rapid fire speed. I'm probably being turned into memes right as we speak. "I'm also in a relationship with someone else." I glance at Peter and he steps forward, his legs shaking while doing so. My heart goes out to him. "I'm in a relationship with Peter Parker right here." The shock begins to shift to harsh criticism and I've had enough of it already. I put my hand up to silence everyone for a moment. "That's all. There will be no further questions." I nod to Pepper and she nods back. She gives a short speech to prevent the media reporters from entering a state of rage while Happy, Peter, and I make our exit. 

     Pepper soon joins us back downstairs and the four of us take a moment to process what just happened. The world knows my three biggest secrets now, two of the people I love most in the world are included in them too. I look at all three of them directly in the eyes. "Thank you all for being a part of this with me. I know it isn't easy to be in the public eye to begin with, let alone two of out of three of you are included in some of the biggest secrets that I've ever confessed to the media. It means a lot to me to not have to go through this alone." Peter is the first to hug me and Pep and Happy soon join in too. Happy is the first to speak. "You've never been alone Tony and you'll never be alone. You have so many people that love you despite what the critics say." 

      Peter and Pep both nod in agreement with this sincere smiles on their faces. I replicate their smiles with one of my own. I realize in this moment that I did the right thing today by making these announcements public. I truly feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
