*deep breath* Alright, so-
ruby_mcandrew gave a request for a one shot featuring Annabeth/etc. learning about Percy's not so fun childhood. (Thank you!!!)
This spiraled into about five different stories- this is one of them, but it ended up being so long I'm going to have to split it into at least two different parts haha (whoops).
So here is the FIRST PART of the first story :)
The other's will follow sporadically, I can't promise when they'll be up but hopefully soon!xXx
A weekend reunion for everyone between semesters seemed like a good idea on paper.
Percy had suggested it as they were moving into their own apartment for the start of their sophomore year; Annabeth had easily agreed. It'd been at least a year since they'd been together with all of their friends; even with summers at camp, there was always someone missing across the country busying themselves with family or jobs. They themselves had been slammed, Percy packed with schoolwork from New Rome and her with Berkely. A vacation was well needed.
Nearly fifteen invitations later via Iris Messaging and good old fashioned letters, their guest list grew to include the rest of the Seven and a handful of their other good friends from both New Rome and Camp Half-Blood. By some miracle, most everyone could come- sans Reyna, who already had an internship lined up in France, and Chicago bound Rachel.
The logistics were the most difficult. Finding a place that was large enough to handle the chaos of a group of demigods that large was more daunting than it had at first seemed. Luckily, Percy's mom found them a relatively large house on a secluded stretch of beach in Montauk, not far from the cabin she and her son used to frequent. Annabeth had done most of the other planning, writing lists and spreadsheets and leaving Percy to gather the food and drinks at the local grocery store. She even worked out the danger of having such a large group of demigods out camping in the woods together. With the combined genius of the Leo, Hazel, and a little bullying of Hephaestus and Hecate, the gift of the protective border that was generally limited to Camp was made briefly portable by a ways of magic and engineering no one really understood but accepted anyway.
There was certainly still potential for disaster, with nearly fifteen demigods ready to arrive, but they were hopeful all would go well. It was one weekend.
What was the worst that could happen?
Apparently, a storm.
"It's going to rain," Percy frowned, staring out the window at the darkening clouds. Annabeth spared a glance from where stood at the white granite counter sorting through his Wal-Mart haul. She opened the fridge and shoveled in canned lemonades and a bowl of fruit.
"That's fine, it's still supposed to be nice tomorrow. We weren't going to do much tonight but let everyone settle in, anyway."
His calloused fingers traced the edge of the island while he shrugged in defeat. "I guess. When are they getting here?"
The curly blonde shot him an incredulous look. "How many times have we gone over this? Five, Percy. Except for Jason and Piper, who are coming in later around eight. "
"Ahh. Right."
"Right. That gives you an hour to help me unpack all of this, and then you can start on dinner."
"So soon?"
"I was thinking we could have it in the oven by six, so yeah."
"You mean I could have it in the oven."
