I excused myself from the table calmly and made way to my room to grab my things for school. Without another word, I left the house and headed over to Cal's bike where he was sat waiting for me.

My father had been completely out of line to provoke him that way but I couldn't help feeling proud of Cal for maintaining his cool and putting my Dad in his place. The only other thing was that I couldn't stop myself from shaking from the adrenaline in my body at hearing the "L" word leave Cal's mouth.

'You okay?' I asked him, stopping right in front of him as his gaze settled on me.

'Why wouldn't I be?' he shrugged.

'Because that was...completely unfair and disrespectful what he did,' I admitted. 'He's my father but I'll be the first to say he's a total dick.'

'Well,' he wrinkled up his nose slightly. 'Yeah. He is a dick.'

'I'm glad you stayed calm though,' I smiled and rested my hand on top of his.

'I don't care what he says about me,' he said. 'It started to become a little disrespectful to you and that's why I left.'

'Well, forget about him,' I sighed. 'At least we tried.'

'We aren't the ones in the wrong,' Cal reminded me.

'Yeah, lets just leave before he comes out and starts again,' I muttered.

I pulled myself up onto the bike, taking my helmet from Cal and placing it on before gripping his body as we headed off out of the neighbourhood.

He dropped me off at the next street along from campus and I quickly hurried along to get to biology before Archie. Once again, I sat at the front and kept my eyes away from his as he entered the room and took his seat at the back. He didn't utter a word to me as class emptied once the bell rang and I dashed off to my next class before he could get a chance to.

The rest of the day passed quickly and I only got to see the girls at lunch where I updated them on everything that was going on; minus the Jared Lane situation.

Before I knew it, the bell rang and I was standing in the middle of campus waiting for my Mom to show up. As I perched myself down on the fountain, my phone buzzed and I pulled it from my pocket to see she had finally texted me.

Mom: you go on home, I have papers to grade x

I sighed and moved to my feet, beginning the journey home before a thought struck me. She was trusting me to actually head right home on my own. She had been acting differently since our last argument in my bedroom and she had welcomed Cal into our home and been very respectful to him; a complete opposite to her actions at Cal's place the other night. She was giving me my freedom back. It was a subtle hint that allowed me to see Cal without having to say the words. I smiled to myself as I replied to her telling her I was going to see Cal and I headed off quickly through town.
