My Forever Family

I watch as the soft drops of the water hit the pavement. Each time it falls at a more rapid pace. The thunder rumbles in now as the lightning strikes down somewhere in the distance.

I start to get flashbacks of us. The last time it stormed like this we were all together. I took it for granted not knowing it was one of the last times we'd all be in the same room for awhile. I wish I would've captured some of the moment to remember it better, as it's all quite fuzzy now.

You both became my family, blood or not. I finally had pieced together a family, I was happy.

Now you've come and gone just like the storm. Leaving puddles behind in my heart. The sound of the rain becoming faint, much like the sound of your voice as I struggle to remember what it sounds like.

I'm counting the days until we meet again. You're forever entwined in my heart and mind, my forever family.

This is not a poem per say, kind of just my tangle of thoughts I'm trying to sort through.
