I wake again to find myself in the same room, except nobody is around me.
"Hello? Anybody?"
I walk down the hall. To the left is the big living room where Amber and Ernest sat.
The door is opening. I turn to it but despite the sound, it is not open. I hear the sounds of everybody as they enter the house, but I do not see them.
"That was a lovely ball. We danced so beautifully Ernest" says Amber. "My gown must have attracted the attention of all the princesses. Don't you agree?"
"Yes" sighs Ernest.
"Annie? Are you awake?" shouts Jade. They are heard walking to the room where I woke.
"She's not there" says Callie.
"Guys?" I shout.
"Annie? Oh god, Annie, where are you?" shouts Callie.
"It's alright Annie" says Jade. "It's probably because of the twins. Mae has talked to me about them. They must have pulled you out."
"Why?"
"God!" says Edward. "I did not chase after Annie for years just to lose her now!"
"Jade says she's going to be fine" says Steve.
"And you!" accuses Edward, "If you hadn't treated her so badly, she would have fallen into this situation in the first place. It's obvious she was looking for someone better than you - someone more like me."
"You're one to talk" says Steve. "We are all the way on an alien planet looking for some fabled 'Space Queen' and you have not contributed even a little to our mission other than complaining."
"Annie?" asks Jade. "What were you doing when you got sucked into time?"
"I was going to my grandmother's to find our family heirloom. There was a thunderstorm, the power went out, and the radio started playing war announcement about Dunkirk.""What were you thinking about before you left?"
"About how good it would be if I belonged to another time" I confessed.
The room around me starts to shake.
"Ah... Jade? Can you tell me what's happening?"
"The twins are wanting to pull you out."
"Pull me out where?"
"Across space and time" answers Jade. "They are a channel for inter-dimensional beings that got lost."
"I don't want to go" I plead.
"Relax" she says. "You are still with us. Anywhere it takes you, you will still return back to us. Inter-dimensional beings always right a loss mass."
"Annie! I love you!" shouts Steve.
"You what?" shouts the group. They all start to argue with each other. The ground shakes. I hear a door opening.
"Grandma Mae?" exclaim Amber and Jade.
"I'm not your grandmother" answers Mae.
