My vision blurs in and out. What I think I see are Edward and Steve standing over me. Both have a look of concern on their faces. Their images merge and come back apart, but never fully merge together.
"Am I dead?" I ask.
"No" answers a female voice.
I turn my head as best as I can muster. There is whom appears to be Mae, whom, on further inspection, turns out to be Jade Lu.
"Amber? Would you please get some tylenol?" asks Jade.
"Why?" shouts Amber.
"She's woken up" says Jade.
"Oh... her" scoffs Amber. She appears in the room, avoiding eye contact with me, and handing the bottle to Jade. She doesn't look at Steve either, just rolls her eyes and goes back into the room.
"Ernest. You must see this weird soap opera show they have!"
"Coming Li... I mean Amber" says Ernest.
"Hey sweetie."
I turn to the right. There is Callie.
"We were so worried about you."
"Not me!" shouts Amber.
Callie rolls her eyes.
"Even her" she says.
"It's impossible that all of you would be here, and you?" I ask, turning to Edward. "I thought you forgot about me! I went to London searching for you, but I saw you had a wife and kids?"
"Wife and kids?" asks Edward incredulously.
"And you Steve, I don't even want to start with you. You're only here for Amber, aren't you?"
"Well, it's sorta true, but then..."
"Everybody out!" yells Jade. "It's so obvious that Annie needs her rest."
"I'm not tired!"
"You have a concussion" says Jade matter-of-factly, laying me down on the pillow. Before I know it, I'm passed out again.
