Chapter 7
Latching Onto You
For six weeks Meryl and Maks' dances did exactly that, they said it all. They had their ups and downs in rehearsals, some problems with judges, but they always came through. Meryl and Maks' scores were consistent and kept them on the top of the leader board throughout the season. Tomorrow is the finale, the biggest night of the ten weeks that Meryl and Maks have spent together. Could Meryl be Maks' first win? Well that's tomorrow. Tonight Meryl has to dance the Freestyle with Maks and make it count. It was up to her to make the night memorable for Maks, no pressure. Meryl was excited to perform because this dance just felt right to her. She and Maks were officially and secretly dating and she felt exhilarated every time she got to touch him, especially as intimately as this dance allowed her. When the music started to play, Meryl was lost in Maks' arms. It was like being in a movie, a movie that described them. The best part of the dance was the very beginning when Maks gently moved his soft hands down Meryl's stomach, making her shiver with delight. The dance continued and she was lifted and spun around in Maks' big strong arms. It ended with Meryl's hands on both sides of Maks' face, her body pressed against his, and his hands on her waist. Meryl leaned in teasingly, knowing they were in front of millions of watching eyes, smiled big and reluctantly pulled away. God knows how much Meryl wanted to lather Maks in deep loving kisses. But she couldn't... yet. Carrie Ann was crying when they went over to the judges and what she said made Meryl laugh
"First of all I think you both should get married!" and she continued to cry. Meryl couldn't help herself from laughing, and wishing that they would. That dance rewarded them with all 10s.
Meryl was so happy she jumped right into Maks' arms when they got backstage. She couldn't hold it in anymore so she kissed Maks with everything she felt while dancing with him. At that point she didn't care if anyone saw. Unfortunately, someone did. And that someone was Val, Maks' little brother. He coughed which is what separated Maks and Meryl to see him standing there smiling.
"Well don't let me break things up. Just wanted to congratulate you on the 10s, carry on." Val said, starting to walk away with a wicked grin on his face. Before he left he stopped and grabbed Maks wrist pulling him a little to the side.
"So, when you going to propose?" he whispered so only Maks could hear. Maks took his wrist back and pushed his brother away.
"Go." he said smiling. Val took a glance at Meryl then turned his attention back to Maks, giving him the thumbs up and a weird grin.
"GO!" Maks pointed to the other direction which Val quickly fled towards. Maks turned back to Meryl with a big smile on his face. He placed his hands back on her waist.
"What did he say?" Meryl asked, confused with the brotherly playfulness that just occurred
"Oh nothing, just teasing." Maks said, he started to run her hair through his fingers.
"So what did you think of what Carrie Ann said? About you know. Us getting married..." Meryl asked hesitantly, staring at his beautifully bare chest. She felt Maks' hands stop in her hair. She dared sneak a look at his expression. He looked ... amused.
"Meryl Davis are you thinking about marriage already?" Maks asked like it was a childish thought. Meryl felt her face get hot so she looked back down at his chest.
"Well no, not right now but..." her words trailed off, Maks took her chin and pointed her face up so she was looking straight into his eyes. He was serious now.
"But what?" He asked almost as a whisper
"But I couldn't see myself with anyone else." she blurted out and she felt deep down that it was true. She loved Maks and could never be with anyone else. It looked like what she said caught Maks by surprise but then he said.
"Me neither. I love you Meryl."
"I love you too." Meryl said and kissed him again. It was only for a second because they didn't want to get caught by anyone else.
"I would love to spend the rest of my life with you Meryl but I want to do this right and at the right moment. Okay?"
"Okay." Meryl whispered. She was breathless, Maks wanted to marry her. She was almost positive that they would no matter how long she had to wait, she didn't care. Lets win this thing first. she thought and lead Maks back to the others.
Meryl barely slept last night thinking about the finale and Maks and winning or losing. She must of looked exhausted but nothing compared to how Maks looked. He must have been up just as long as she was last night if not longer. But he still looked hot even with dark circles under his eyes. Tonight was the night. It was make or break it time. Lose it or win it. Amy is an amazing dancer and so inspirational, she deserves to win. But Derek has won many times before. Meryl was doing this for Maks and she believed that he deserved to win more than anyone on the show. This could be his first win. She could be his first win. It was almost time to announce the winners , the four finalists were standing in the middle of the dance floor crossing their fingers, waiting for them to reveal the winner. Finally Tom began announcing it, slow, anticipation filled words. Making all the contestants squirm and wait.
"... the winners and new champions of dancing with the stars are ........." the pause was excruciating "MERYL AND MAKS!" they won! Meryl couldn't believe it , they won! Maks picked her up and twirled her around and around and around until she was dizzy then put her down and kissed her cheek. She was his first win! Maks held Meryl tightly to him and she sensed how badly he wanted to kiss her but he couldn't, not in front of all these people. This was the best night of Meryl's life next to winning gold with Charlie. After all the waiting and rehearsals and time and effort, Meryl and Maks finally won. Meryl was so happy for Maks, it was his first win and she helped him get it. The night was full of congratulations and even though it was just a piece of plastic the Mirror Ball meant everything to both Maks and Meryl right now.
Meryl and Maks left together and headed straight to Meryl's house. Meryl kept stealing kisses from Maks every time they hit a red light. She was full of energy right now and wanted to do something amazing. They arrived at Meryl's house and couldn't keep their mouths off each other's. Maks pressed Meryl against the wall and slid his hands all around her body.
"We won." He whispered against her lips when he came up for air. Meryl smiled and kissed him again.
"I know." she whispered and took off Maks shirt.
"Meryl." Maks warned. By then they had somehow gotten to Meryl's bedroom.
"I want to." Meryl said and pushed Maks onto her bed. Meryl leaned in and kissed him. Their kisses became rougher and that's when the fun started...
