Jayden (I know y'all don't wanna hear from him but I couldn't help it lol)

"And can you believe she's trying to get him fired?!" My mothered yapped on the phone with her friends back home. With all the drama revolving around Monique, my mother was adamant about staying. It doesn't bother me much. Wake up to a hot breakfast, clothes ironed, coffee made. Then getting off from a long day of work for more hot food and a loving person waiting on you. Reminds me of how much I actually missed staying with my mother. It would've been nice to have a significant other here to do those things but things don't work out the way we hope most of the time.
I'll be the first to admit that things with Monique blew out of proportion. I didn't mean for things to go as bad as they did. I was so upset with the way things went with us. I felt like her friends were manipulating her. They were always in her ear putting doubts in her head about me but allowing her to talk to some thug and player that had a sexually transmitted disease. Is it really wrong I felt like she deserved better than those options? People like to say money and status doesn't matter when it really does.
If I were a bum out on the streets women wouldn't even give me a second glance. Or if we were celebrating something like a birthday or an anniversary, there's no woman in the world who wouldn't accept the very best gift you can get. Would a woman rather have some cheap flowers versus diamond earrings or a necklace? No they wouldn't. Thinking about your significant other's monetary value and status doesn't mean your shallow. It means your smart. If you've been in a position where you've struggled, why keep repeating the same process? You want to build with someone so the next generations won't have to go through what you went through.
"I'm leaving mom," I told her.
"Okay sweetie. Have a good day at work. Just let me know what you want to eat tonight."
"Okay." I closed the door firmly behind me. As I was walking to my car I noticed some of my neighbors were out. I kept my head down and tried not to be noticed by any of them. Thanks to my mother spreading gossip tensions have been high with us. Everyone was friendly when I first moved in. Now they treat me like the plague. Which I don't understand why. I'm not the one who nearly caught a deadly disease. My mother tried making amends with everyone but they still don't like us very much.
Things at work are a bit better. For me at least. I guess she should've picked her battles. With her trying to fire an entire team of skilled workers and me, it made her look like she was on a war path. Most of the employees didn't know what to think of her even in the beginning so this stunt of hers made everything worse. Her team isn't working with her at all and she's even more of a pariah. Maybe if she hadn't tried picking so many fights, things probably would've turned out differently.
I pulled up to work and quickly got on it. My relationship with my coworkers is a lot better than hers so most of everyone was friendly and inviting. The girl at the front desk however, still showed a strong lack of professionalism. I worked hard throughout the day. A group of girls invited me to lunch but I was too busy and decided to take a rain check. Plus, my mother packed me some lunch already and I prefer to be in the office today. I unfortunately forgot a drink and went to the break room to purchase one. The last thing I expected was to find Monique in here. I guess she's working through lunch as well.
"He's already got some offers to work in a couple of restaurants," I heard her say, noticing the Bluetooth device in her ear. "We're going to look over their offers later and come to a decision on what place he wants to work at." She had her back to me as she moved about and fixed her lunch. "Nah, Zy can make fancy dishes but he's not into working for a fancy restaurant so I doubt he'll work in one. He wants something a little less stressful. Besides, can you imagine going into a fancy restaurant and have him cook the food? No offense but that does not fit Zy's image."
