Monique
"I said no," I laughed at the guys.
"Why the fuck not?" Bryson huffed. "We can buy you a contracting company to run. Fuck Atlanta." I told them of the problems I had at work since they brought up what I did for a living. Now they're trying to get me to move up here and work in the city.
"I don't know anything about New York."
"You can learn just like Ree bobble head ass did."
"Don't play with me Bryson," Ree leaned over and started hitting him.
"Awe shit! Chill Ree! Fucking heavy handed ass. Felt like you hit me with a fuckin brick."
"Fuck you," She flicked him off before hobbling out.
"Dick," AJ laughed.
"Now they're both about to be riding my ass," he muttered getting up and running after her.
"He's a jerk," Essence said. "But I can see what y'all mean now so Imma keep my comments to myself."
"Yeah you better," Meechie said. "But nah sis we're serious. I know construction companies up here that I work with on my clubs."
"Thanks but I'm going to stick it out at home. I may not work there anymore but my options aren't dead."
"And you know you're always welcome back at my brother's company."
"Yes I know. But right now, I'm trying not to stress the job aspect. I think I'm going to listen and actually try to relax as much as I can. I have too much already going on that's more important."
"Alright little Haynes," pops said. "We won't push you since we just met. But if you do decide to move don't worry about anything. We can buy whatever house you want, furniture and all."
"Thanks pops," I laughed. "But I still have my heart set on building my own house unless I find my dream home already built. Plus, New York is all city. I don't know about living on top of people." Even though I've only been here a couple of days I was able to build a quick and solid bond with everyone.
The guys quickly stopped considering me a distant cousin and call me their younger sister. Mr. Haynes wouldn't talk to me until I started calling him pops. It was weird at first but I quickly got used to it. I didn't have my father in my life so it's nice to have someone I can still consider a dad. When I talked to mama about him the other day she often said he was much like my dad so it's comforting to know that knowing Mr. Haynes was like being around my father.
"Her road rage is way too bad for New York anyway," Zyshonne said.
"That's true," I giggled. I may be calm and sweet most of the time but once I get behind the wheel I turn into a completely different person. I don't go around flicking people off or causing a scene but I have NO patience for drivers who don't drive like me. And let's not talk about my heavy foot. Any posted speed limit under fifty-five irritates me to my very soul.
"Girl that's why I don't drive up here unless I really have to," Essence said. "I used to always catch an Uber or something but after a bad experience Meechie will take me wherever if I don't drive myself."
"Damn right. Was telling your ass that since the beginning but you're hard-headed as fuck," Meechie said. Essence mugged him on the side while he just grinned at her. I smiled at them. I just love seeing people in love.
"What was this guys name again?" AJ asked. "You said he's from New York right?"
"Yeah but I'm not sure where. His name is Jayden Hawke."
