The entire fortress lit up in a world of white that shook the entire void. The cries of demons being scorched into dust, was quickly drowned by the roar of Garadex's thunder, as they get blown away from the force of impact.
The light burns away at my eyes. Causing trails of dark smoke to shimmer from them, as I can hear them sizzling away. Followed by nasty pops of my flesh within my bloody pits for eyes burning and bubbling away.
I let loose an uncontrollably scream and cup my eyes. Spinning through the air out of control. My world completely black.
My magic hums away in the background, healing my wounds. A rush of coolness washes over me and I was back on my feet. Bloody eyes darting rapidly for any signs of Lucy. Only to stop dead center at the end result.
A giant hole laid bare before me. One so massive to the point where it stretched to every end of the sky. There was no land in sight. Just a black hole with sparks of leftover magic that crackles every now and then.
But even more astounding, was that the fortress still remained intact. Standing on a large chunk of rock that rivaled a city in size. To think that a single man was capable of this. It made me light headed just trying to wrap my mind around such power.
"Holy shit." I say shakily. No matter how many times I look at it, it felt unreal. To think that a single man was capable of all this. It made me feel uneasy in the head just trying to wrap my mind around such power. Garadex truly is a man straight out of a legend. Never have I seen someone use this much magic.
But that damn fortress. It must be quite the barrier to be able to withstand something that insane. Yet, from here, it seems to be fading. Now is my chance to hop in and do what needs to be done.
I shake myself outta being awestruck and fly back down to the edge of the fortress. Garadex was no where to be found. But that didn't matter right now. I gotta get moving.
I jump up and swoop in a straight line. Lightning my fist in a ball of light, and smash a giant hole into the brick wall. Which caves in as an explosion of dust blasts forward and knocks away dozens of demons. All of them screeching in shock.
I dash through the smoke. The air was still charged with Garadex's leftover magic, making the hairs on my neck rise, and my skin tingle something fierce. My throat burned from inhaling so much dust, forcing me to shorten my inhales. But I march through the pain. Determined beyond all means to put an end to all this.
I stop in my tracks mid-flight and hover back a bit at my first demon. One of the tougher ones that survived the blast. A pitch-black, scaly snake with gray horns and one giant, yellow eye. It slithers to a halt before me, no bigger than a bus in width, as its lips peel back to reveal rows upon rows of shark-like teeth in a grin that was eerily, all too human.
It then rises up. Towering over me. Now standing well over six stories high. Garadex once told me about this particular demon. But his words fail to come to my aid. The only thing that stood out was its name because of how cool it sounded.
The Death Stalker.
I let the light die out from my fist. Channeling it into flames. That set off that same glow on my arm from before. All with my gaze fixed on it. Yet my eyes held no fear. They narrow in anger and determination. The demon,
We stood face to face. For several seconds, neither of us moved. The tension so thick I could swim in it.
