Night comes by quickly. My parents were fast asleep. Tucked away in their spacious, master bedroom. While Freddie was too busy locked in his room as well. Sneaking and watching late night TV shows. Instead of going to sleep like a normal kid would.

But then again, that boy is about the furthest thing from what I would call 'normal.'

Marco did his best to not make a peep. For majority of the day, he kept himself locked away in my room. Not saying too much of anything. Probably too afraid that someone might overhear his voice. Which makes perfectly good sense. Because if my parents hear a boy in my room this late at night, they might suspect us of doing something we shouldn't, and that would land us in huge trouble, and a possible shouting match with gramps.

Much to my surprise--and disappointment! Marco never did attempt to finish what we started out in the backyard.

It wasn't like I was resisting or anything. Hell, wouldn't any boy jump at the opportunity to pull something this late at night? But I guess Marco really must be different from the rest. Yet...I can't help but feel the urge that he might be hiding something from me.

The question is...what exactly?

"Hey, I'm finna go freshen up in the washroom. Be back in a sec."

Marco simply waves me off. Too busy hunched over in his chair. Watching some college basketball game. I can tell he was really into it. He never once so much as moved from that same spot, nor checked his phone the whole time I was here.

When he wasn't looking, I snatch his phone from my bed. Then ease my way into the bathroom.

The moment I close the door, I go through his cellphone. (He's seriously the only person I know who doesn't have a lock screen.) Scrolling through his contacts and text messages. When I couldn't help but notice the name 'Jenny' constantly popping up.

They seem to be texting each other every other day. But the content itself didn't give off any flirty vibes. Most of what they say to each other was on friendly terms. Stuff like 'how was your day?' 'What are you doing right now?' 'Did you finish such and such homework?'

I find myself smiling in my reflection. Cheeks turning a happy shade of red, as I look down in embarrassment and much needed relief.

Wow. I guess I was paranoid over nothing. Marco really is a good guy. One worth keeping. And from here on out, I'll never doubt you again. I'll learn to trust you.

A wave of pain flares from the neck down. I slip out a short yelp. Nearly losing my own balance. I had to grab onto the bathroom sink. Using both arms just to keep myself upright. Wheezing painfully.

I look at myself in the mirror. The two holes in my neck are the first thing that catches my eye. Which are bleeding like crazy!

The bathroom lights intensifies. Becoming blazing beams of light that made my eyes burn and my body boil with surges of heat.

I reach out and flip the switch off to ease the sensation. The moment I find myself isolated in total blackness, was when my thoughts begin to race.

What the hell is happening to me? Could this be coming from when Marco bit me? Am I turning into a--no, don't be ridiculous! Vampires don't exist! They just can't! Those kinds of things are just make-believe! Only a doofus like Freddie would fall for that.
