Deep in demon territory. Exploring different landscapes. Seeing literally thousands of monsters and foul creatures. Some come as gigantic as meteors, hovering silently across the cosmos. My jaw dropped the first time I saw one. A literal ball of flesh with hundreds upon hundreds of sharp mouths. Lashing open and shut with many eyes. Each the size of mountains!
I was a crying mess soon after. I'm talking snotty nose. Black, watery streaks under both eyes. The uncontrollable hiccups. The whole nine yards! Alexis had to calm me down for about half an hour after seeing that.
But moving on from that...
The supernatural world itself is vastly different from our own. I learned the concept of magic is a real thing here. That only the gifted can tap into the magic around them at will. They call them magicians. A special bunch of a select few that can tap into it without the presence of these sick twisted freaks called demons.
Speaking of demons, I learned a lot about them. That magic was the only real way to destroy them. And that they come in three ranks. With regular demons being just the small fries. What I witnessed today, all the death and destruction and loss of human life was all caused by the lowest ranking demons and knowing that made me go cold inside.
Arch-demons are the elites out the bunch. Of course, being a step up, meant that they were that much tougher and harder to kill. But thankfully twice as rare to come across. And that they hardly work together in large groups. He even told me that the sky demons I saw earlier, don't have a rank, and that in some fucked up way, served as embryos to spawn arch-demons. They are called Sky Crawlers.
Alexis was excitedly in the middle of telling me about the class of monsters beyond even that.
"Now there's a whole section of demons far ahead of even them." He points a finger in the air. "They're crazy strong and can use magic like we can. The crazy thing is, they look no different from your average bunch of demons. But you can almost feel the difference, you know what I mean?"
I give him a dead-eyed look. "No. I don't. And how can I, when I never even met one?"
Alexis puts his finger to his chin. "Aw, damn. Good point. Well, anyways the demon we're after is the strongest one in existence. He's pretty...uh, how can I say this? Strange looking? Even amongst other demons I heard he looked oddly human."
I raise a curious brow to that. "Oddly human?"
"Everyone gather around!"
A tall man around seven feet stands in the middle of rocky slab. Surrounded by a ring of Hunters. Holding a spear as long as his body. Shirtless with a brown cloaked wrapped around his neck and hangs down his back in rags. He had steely abs, skin the color of bronze, and silky hair that was wrapped in a short ponytail.
Alexis looks over at me. His boyish face reminded me of Freddie's. Even the way he talks in that giddy tone is like watching a five-year old talk about his favorite toy. But those same, excitable green eyes of his would narrow in like a hawk when he was serious about something. His voice direct and stern like my father's.
