"HERE, SOME FOOD," Finnick says and he passes them some fish and oysters. "Thank you," Cordelia says and he smirks before shrugging.
Peeta opens up one clam and he smiles as he sees something. "Here, for you," he hands Katniss a pearl. "Thank you," she says as she admired it. Suddenly there was screaming and they stood up. "That's new," Peeta says and they look at the other side of the beach. A cannon went off and a body was picked up.
"Someone's here," Katniss says and she grabs an arrow. "Johanna? Johanna!" Cordelia yells as she runs towards her blood-covered friend. "'Delia!" Johanna yells and she hugs her. "It's good to see a familiar face," Johanna mutters and Cordelia rubs her back. "Well, I got 'em out," she adds as Katniss and Peeta jog to the group. "We were all the way deep into the jungle, where I thought we'd be safe. That's when the rain started, at first I thought it was water- turns out to be blood, hot, thick blood."
"Tick-Tock," Wiress says and Johanna continued to complain. Wiress keeps on repeating 'tick-tock'. "What's wrong with her?" Katniss asks and Beetee comes out of the water. "She's in shock, dehydration isn't helping. Do you have fresh water?" He asks and Katniss nods. "We can get some," she says and Johanna became annoyed when Wiress began to pull on her repeating tik-toc.
"Hey! Leave her alone," Katniss says as Johanna pushes Wiress to the floor. "Hey, what are you doing? I got them out for you," Johanna says and Cordelia leads her to the water. "Let's fix you up," she says and Johanna curses her in her muttering.
"This entire arena seems to be laid out with a new threat every hour but they stay only within their wedge. It all starts with the lighting, then the blood rain, fog, monkeys, that's the first 4 hours. At 10:00, that big wave hits from over there," Katniss says and Cordelia places her hands on her hips. "Look, the tail points to 12, that's where the lightning strikes at noon and midnight," Cordelia says and Peeta nods.
"Strike's where?" Beetee asks and Katniss shows him where. Peeta was showing them a drawing of the clock when they heard Wiress gasp. Gloss from District 1 had sliced her throat. Cordelia threw a dagger at his chest as his sister, Cashmere came from hre side and Johanna hit her with an ax. Cordelia looks to where Brutus was fighting Finnick and Peeta.
"Fuck you dude," she sneers as she punches him across the face and Finnick kicks him. He fell to the floor and the two young adults look at each other, breathless before kissing each other on the lips. "Love birds, not the fucking time!" Johanna yells and the two of them parted with stupid smiles on their faces. "I love you," they say in unison and Finnick turns red, much like when he was 14-years-old.
The Cornucopia starts to spin. making everyone fall to the floor. Finnick held on to Cordelia but the water was splashing too much on her. "Grab Peeta," she says and she fell in the ocean. "No!" She hears Finnick yell and she tries to swim upwards but the water was pushing her down. She felt the Corncupia top moving but she was too weak to swim.
Finnick hears a cannon boom and he dives into the water, he quickly swam to get her and bring her up to the air but she wasn't breathing. He reached the shore and he started doing CPR. "C' mon, please," he whispers as he did it again, there was no sign but he had to do it once more, he applied pressure on her chest and she coughed up water.
Finnick let out a small cry as he held her hair back. "I thought I lost you," he whispers and she touches his cheek. "Never," she says and he hugs her.
The two walked back to the rest of the group and Johanna hugs her friend. "Besides Brutus who else is alive?" Katniss asks. "Maybe Chaff, just those two," Peeta says and Cordelia nods. "They know they're outnumbered, I doubt they attack again," Finnick says, "We are safe here on the beach," he adds as Cordelia stands closer to Katniss. "So what do we do? Hunt them down?" Johanna asks and a girl screams.
"Prim? Prim!" Katniss yells, going into the forest. "No, no, Katniss wait," Finnick yells as they began to chase after her.
"Katniss, you okay?" Cordelia asks as she and Finnick catch up to her. "Mommy! Daddy!" They hear and their eyes widen. "Cassia!" Cordelia yells at the same time Finnick yells 'Caspian.'
"Caspian? Cassia, where are you?"
"It's just a jabber jay, it's not them," Katniss says Cordelia growls. "I swear to God, Snow, if you hurt my kids I will kill you!" She yells to the jungle, knowing he is listening to every word she says. "Where do you think they got that sound? Jabber jays copy," Finnick says as many voices began to chase after them. Cato's, Esthers, Cassias, Caspians, her own.
Both Katniss and Cordelia fall to the floor with their hands covering their ears. "Stop it!" Cordelia cries out loudly and the voices stopped. "Baby, princess, it's fine they're fine, I promise," Finnick says and he takes her in his arms. "How can you promise they are safe when neither of us knows if that's true?"
"The Capitol adores all three of them if Snow tortured them they would rebel themselves," Johanna says while ignoring the look on Cordelia's face.
Both of them sat in the ocean, hand in hand. "If we lose them...I'm not sure what I'd do," Cordelia whispers and Finnick looks at her. "I'll tell you what we won't do, let it go without revenge," he says and he kisses her on the lips. "What have I done to deserve you? I'm nothing special, never have been," she says and he gives her a pained smile. "You are special, in every way," he tells her and she kisses him again.
"I love you," she mutters and he looks at her beautiful blue eyes. "I love you too, always," he says and she smiles.
Johanna called both of them before Beetee tells them the plan. "Where does Brutus feel safest? The jungle?" He asks them, more towards Cordelia though, "Jungle's a nightmare," Johanna says and Peeta bends down. "Probably here on the beach," he says and Beetee shakes his head. "Then why are they not here?"
"Because we are, we claimed it," Finnick says while holding Cordelia's hand. "And if we left, he would come?"
"Or stay hiding in the tree line?" Finnick says and Beetee clicks his teeth. "Which is just over four hours will be soaked with water from the 10:00 wave. And what happens at midnight?"
"Lighting strikes that tree," Cordelia says and he nods. "Here's what I propose we leave the beach at dusk. We head to the lightning tree, that should draw him back to the beach. Prior to midnight we then run this wire from the tree to the water, anyone in the water or on the damp sand, will be electrocuted," he says and Cordelia smiles.
"How do we know the wire is not going to burn up?" Johanna asks him, "Because I invented it, I assure you, it won't burn up," he says and Cordelia smirks. "Such an evil genius," she mutters and Finnick slightly smiles at her small humor. "Well it's better than hunting them down," Johanna says and Finnick whistles. "Yeah why not, if it fails no harm done anyway, right?"
"Alright I say we try it, so what can we do to help?"
"Keep me alive for the next 6 hours, that would be extremely helpful."
