"SNOW'S IN HIS MANSION, WHERE IS THAT?" Katniss asks, firing up the holo. "That's us, the Mansion where he is at is the one where I spent my holidays, it right there," Esther says and Jackson nods, "That's the city circle, It's at least 70, 75 blocks north," Cressida says and Finnick gapes at the number. "Seventy-five blocks?" He asks and Cressida nods.
"Uh-huh. Nobody knows we're alive. This is our chance," she says and Katniss points to the map. "These buildings. Do these look over snow's gardens?" She asks and Esther answers "They do, If he goes outside at all, you could get a clear shot," Esther says and Katniss nods.
"We're getting ahead of ourselves here. Whether they're looking for us or not, we are pinned down. Hit that button. Scan for pods," Commander Jackson says and Katniss hits the button. Yellow dots appear all over the map, pods. "Just about every 10 fucking steps," Cato says and Cordelia groans in annoyance.
"Yeah, that doesn't even show the new ones," Gale says and Finnick sighs, "So we can't go anywhere in the streets," he mutters and Jackson shakes her head, "And the rooftops are just as bad."
"There might be another way," Castor says and Finnick grabs Cordelia's hand.
"My brother knows these tunnels really well. He worked sanitation down here. Right after they made him an avox," and Pollox breathes heavily, his brother following him. "Hey. Hey. You gonna be okay, look at me. Look at me. We're gonna get through this. I promise," he says and Pollux nods.
They hear a train coming and they run behind a wall, the train passing them. "We're too exposed here," Cordelia says and Pollux leads the team somewhere else. Katniss fires up the Halo, "Looks clear," she says and air from a gas pipe hits them, "Everybody okay?" Jackson asks and Katniss stands up.
"Yeah," she says and they walk through water. "Finnick, what if something bad happens, to you and me?" She whispers and Finnick shakes his head and he continues to walk. "Nothing is going to happen, we're completely safe, I promise," he says and Cordelia shakes her head, "Don't promise me shit, you don't know," she says and he grabs her hand.
"Neither do you."
"All right, everybody, we're gonna stop here for a bit and get some rest, yeah? I'll take first watch," Jackson says and Finnick follows Peeta, "Hey, Peeta, Just tuck in there," Finnick says, taking care of him. "All right, settle in, everybody," Esther says, sitting down. Cordelia woke up to Finnick shaking her, "What's wrong?" She asks and Finnick gulps.
"Mutts, they're mutts we need to run," he says and Cordelia stands up. "What's the fastest route out of here!" Cato asks and Pullox runs, everyone following him. They stop at a tunnel, Gale firing a bow that lit, showing a clear entrance. "Let's go," Esther says and Cordelia and Finnick ready their weapons. The screeching of the mutts scares Cordelia for her life.
Pollux enters a small opening, the others waiting for an 'All clear', Finnick grabs his wife's hand as they. "Not today," she whispers to herself and she felt a shiver run down her spine as she let's go of Finnick's hand.
"Not fucking today," she sneers and she grabs her daggers, her number one weapon of choice outside and in the arena. Pollux came out, telling everyone it was fine. Esther and Cato were the first ones to enter, helping the others in as Jackson was the last. She turns around but hears another movement behind her. The mutts showed up and screeched loudly. Cordelia threw a dagger at one of them, black blood spilling out, killed instantly. "Run, run, Kat, c' mon!" Cato yells and he pulls both girls out.
Katniss releases her bow and it erupted fire, Castor was the second to be attacked by the mutts, he screams so loud that it echos in the sewers. "Castor!" Cressida yells and everyone shot at the mutts.
"We need to go, we need to go!" Finnick yells and they run, leaving poor Castor there. More mutts appear in front of them and the rebels ran left, looking at the stairs. Katniss shot at them as they come from all angels. Cordelia and Esther shot their ammo and Cato gulps. "'Delia, I'm out, I have nothing," he says and she looks at him. "Climb up, you too, mom," she says as Katniss tries to stop a mutt from attacking her with her hands.
Finnick chokes the mutt with his trident and Finnick was brought down into the water. Finnick killed him, fighting off every mutt he sees. "Go, go now!" He yells at Cordelia, Katniss, and Esther as the others already climbed up.
"No, not without you," Cordelia yells and he pushes her. "Go," he whispers and a mutt attacked him from behind. "I love you," he yells at her and Cato pulls her up.
"No! I need to go back!" She yells as Cato holds her tight, pulling her away from the entrance.
Katniss climbs up, and Esther fights alongside Finnick, "Go, my daughter needs you," she yells and Finnick shakes his head, stabbing the mutts. "My daughter needs you, my grandchildren need you, I will hold them off," she yells and Finnick let out a sob. "I-I can't leave you here," he tells his mother in law and she pushes him up the ladder, fighting the mutts.
"Cordelia needs you, she has to tell you something," she says and Finnick looks at her. "Go!" She yells and she also climbs the stairs. Katniss pulls him up and he sees Esther being pulled down the stairs. "Esther!" He yells and she starts to scream as she was bitten. "Nightlock!" She yells and Katniss brings out the halo, "Nightlock, nightlock," and she threw it, "Nightlock," she says and it exploded, her screams were nothing but an echo in the sewers.
"Finnick," Cordelia breathes out, wrapping her arms around him. "I thought I lost you," she whispers and gunshots were heard. "Not yet, we need to leave," he says urgently. "Finnick, where's my mom," Cordelia asks as she unwraps her arms from him. "We need to go," Cressida says and Cordelia clenches her fist, holding in a scream, her mom is gone. Bullets were close to hitting them as the peacekeepers shot at them.
Katniss and Peeta jump, both falling to the floor. She gets up instantly, grabbing her bow, "Peeta, c' mon!" Katniss yells and she turns around to see Peeta clutching his head. "I'm a mutt!" He yells and Katniss grabs him. "I'm a mutt! I can't keep control!" He yells and Katniss grabs his face, "Yes, you can! Look at me!" She yells and he shakes his head. "Leave me! I'm a mutt!"
"Look at me! Look at me!" He looks at Katniss and she kisses him, "Stay with me," she whispers and he looks at her with love, "Always," he says and Cressida starts running. "Come on, I know where we are! I know a place. Up those stairs," she says and everyone runs. "Keep going," she yells they enter a boutique. "Someone's coming," Peeta says and someone opens the door, the rebels scrambling inside, "Shut the door, shut the door!" Finnick says, holding Cordelia as Katniss aims her bow at the stranger.
"No, Katniss, it's okay, it's okay. It's okay," she says and Katniss lowers her bow. "Tigris?" Cordelia asks, remembering her from the games. "Oh my gosh, Finnick, she helped dress my brother in the games," she tells him and Tigris nods.
"We're with Plutarch's underground. We need your help."
