The annoying sound of her phone ringing is what woke Kalene up. Groaning, she reached over to grab her phone. A strong arm pulled her back against him making her smile. She could feel what was pressed against her backside.
"Hello?"
"Aww. Did I wake you?" She heard him say.
Kalene was instantly awake.
"How the hell did you get this number?" She asked.
"It wasn't that hard. When can I see her? She is my daughter, isn't she?" Ted asked.
"How would you know? Why do you even care?!" Kalene hissed quietly as she removed Tim's arm from her waist and slid out of bed.
She moved to the balcony after slipping on her robe.
"Because. I'm her father, aren't I?" He retorted.
"Nobody seemed to care when I found I was pregnant!" Kalene exclaimed, nostrils flaring as she spoke, "I don't know who her father is."
"I was young back then. Not ready to be a father yet." Ted countered, "I know I'm her father."
"And you think you're ready to be a father now? Well guess what? You can't just decide when you want to be a father. You can't just swoop in any time you like." Kalene shouted angrily.
"I will sue you for custody and force you to allow a DNA test. I will make you prove that I'm her father. Then you'll have no choice but to let me into her life!" Ted responded making her laugh as Tim walked up behind Kalene, sliding his arms around her waist.
"Do whatever you think you need to, asshole." Kalene stated before hanging up.
"Everything ok?" Tim's deep morning voice hit her ears.
"He says he's going to sue me for custody of Gen and to make me take a DNA test to prove he's her father. (Kalene sighed) There's no need for it. I know he's her father, Tim. Of all the things I was back then, a slut wasn't one of them." She sighed again, "I don't know what to do here."
"Let's go back into the room. The adoption papers should be coming through soon. What if we accelerated our wedding? I mean, she is eighteen so legally there's nothing he can do really but for your piece of mind..." Tim trailed.
"You'd really do that for me?" Her eyes widened.
"I'd do anything for you, baby!" He grinned.
"I love you so much, Tim! I'll never be able to show you how much." She flung herself into his arms making him chuckle.
He knew that feeling all too well. He truly never thought he'd love another person after Jenika. He never believed he'd even want to love another person after what she did to him. But here he was planning his wedding! Not only had he'd fallen in love again but he'd gained a family as well, something he always said he didn't want.
Now he was actually entertaining the idea of having a baby with this woman. Something he was adamant about not doing with Jenika. Did that speak to Jenika's character or Kalene's? Either way, he still felt on the fence about it even though he basically had a step-daughter now whom he loved dearly. She was a great kid, there was no denying that. He'd go to bat for her like he would her mother.
"When do you want it?" Kalene asked.
The question took him off guard.
"Huh?"
"The wedding?" She asked, "You suggested we push up our wedding. I know we hadn't really set a date yet."
"Hmm. I guess the better question is when would you like it? I've done this before, my dear, and you haven't." He chuckled, "What do you want it to look like?"
She closed her eyes for a moment as she thought about it.
"Kind of old timey. If that makes sense. The gold rimmed plates and silverware, lace table linens, pocket watches for the groomsmen, beautiful pendant necklaces for the bridesmaids . . ." She smiled.
"I'll let you do all the planning then." He chuckled, "Where are we doing this?"
"Nederland." She was quick to say.
"Why?"
"It's where we met. It's where Gen and I found our home. It's where we . . . it's where we found a family." Kalene began to tear up as she spoke.
"Oh baby. (He pulled her into his arms) I was just curious. I know momma will love that you want to get married there. I'm sure she'll ask her pastor to use the church and for him to marry us. I hope that's ok." He chuckled making her nod her head yes, "Good. We should start picking dates so we can start planning. You should start shopping for your dress too."

Ted hung up the phone and sat back in his chair. A grin spread over his face as he dialed his cousin Quentin's number. They chatted for a while before Ted asked his cousin to meet at his house. The pair had been very close since they were very young. Even closer than brothers. They did everything together. Quentin was more than happy to help his cousin when he needed him.
"What's up, cuz?" Quentin exclaimed when he waltzed through Ted's door.
"I ran into Kalene yesterday. You remember her from high school. Said she was pregnant?" Ted replied.
"Of course I remember Kalene. So what's going on?" Quentin asked.
"She has my kid, cuz, and refused to let me see her. I told her I was going to sue her for custody and force her to allow a DNA test be done." Ted replied.
"What do you need from me?" Quentin asked.
"Well..." Ted trailed before going into what he wanted to do.
Quentin gave some ideas and was on board with what his cousin wanted to do. They sat there together for hours going over what to do, when to do it, where to go, and how to cover their tracks. Ted was determined to take what was his and make Kalene pay in the process. Quentin's cousin had been wronged and he was more than happy to help right that wrong.

Kalene was flipping through bridal magazines to find ideas for their wedding. Dena, as Tim had suggested, talked to her pastor about having the wedding at the church and him doing the ceremony. She had been thrilled to hear they wanted to get married there in Nederland. Tim, on a private call to his momma, told her why they wanted to get married in Nederland. It had made her a bit emotional to hear.
Kalene had never been married before and despite not being a virgin wanted to wear a white dress. She hoped her fiancé liked her ideas for their wedding.
Dena: hey sweetie! How's the wedding planning coming?
Kalene smiled when she saw the text from her soon to be mother-in-law.
Kalene: I know I want him in all black. It seems weird but he looks soooooo good in all black. I've narrowed down what I want the place settings and tables to look like.
She continued looking through magazines.
Dena: Need any help with anything?
Kalene smiled at her soon to be mother-in-law. She didn't know what she needed really.
Kalene: I don't really know what I need, really :/
Dena: I could look up photographers for you in the area. Maybe florists? Caterers?
Kalene's eyebrows shot up. She hadn't even thought of those things yet. All that mattered to her was of her family being there and getting to say "I Do" to Tim. Everything else was fluff.
Kalene: thank you, Dena. That would be most helpful.
The more she thought about what all needed to be done for their wedding, the more overwhelmed she felt. Who knew so much went into wedding planning! All she wanted was to be his wife. Why did getting married have to be so complicated?! Seeing Georgia and Sami going through all the wedding planning and how stressed out it made them was making sense to her now.
