"So, uh, what's all this look for?" Genesis eyed her mom up and down.
"To catch your prey, you need to blend in with the surroundings. I know the people I used to hang with would recognize me better if I were dressed this way. I was more likely to get help and information if I were dressed this way." Kalene retorted.
"I dig it. It's a good look for you." Genesis grinned.
"Let's head back to your room." Kalene shook her head.
Luke: Everyone has the next four days off so I've got people booked for flights to their homes. You guys included. Our flight leaves later this afternoon.
Kalene: thanks, Luke. For everything.
Luke: np, get her settled and comfortable. Get some rest yourself, sweetie. You deserve it.
Dena: I just got a call from Luke. I'll be picking you up from the airport. We'll stop for dinner on the way home. I'm sure you'll all be exhausted, especially Genesis.
Kalene just smiled as she read her mother-in-law's text. 'Sweetest woman in the world!' Kalene thought before starting her reply.
Kalene: thank you, Dena. That's incredibly sweet of you. I'm already exhausted. Forgive the way I'm dressed though. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow, lol.
"Well, we have about four days off so Luke got everyone flights home later this afternoon. Oh! This will be the first time you've seen the wedding present Tim got me. You're gonna love it! I do." Kalene grinned, "Miss Dena is picking us up from the airport and taking us to dinner, by the way."
"Cool. I hate being stuck at home, though. I mean, I love hanging out with Miss Dena, grandma, but I'd rather be on stage playing." Genesis tried to laugh but moaned from the pain instead.
"I know. Oh! I think they're bringing Tim back. Let me go check on him. I'll be right back." Kalene told her daughter.
She darted next door to hear the nurse flirting with Tim. The bass man was doing his best to be polite but subtle-y let her know he was happily married. That particular nurse didn't seem to get it.
"Hey sweetheart! Genesis is awake. We walked around the nurse's station. Hopefully they'll release her soon. We also have a flight home later this afternoon where your mother will be picking us up from the airport. She's taking us out to dinner before dropping us off at home." Kalene explained hoping she was getting through to the oblivious nurse.
"Good. I'd like a few days at home with my two favorite girls! Besides, the dogs could use the time off the road and in their new surroundings. We could have our first family dinner. Invite mom and Emily." Tim suggested as the nurse was hooking up his blood pressure cuff for the fourth time, "It'll be at least half an hour before my x-ray comes back." He sighed making his wife laugh as she sat at the end of his bed and rubbed his leg.
"Alyssa! Get the hell out of here!" Tim's nurse stated as she came in to check on him making the other girl scurry away, "I'm so sorry about her. No one here likes the little harlot. (Kalene snickered) The doctor will be in shortly to talk to you. I'm just here to take vitals."
The pair talked about what Kalene would make for their first family dinner while they waited on the doctor to arrive. She wanted to impress her mother-in-law. She wanted to impress her sister-in-law. She wanted to show that she could be a good wife, a good hostess, was able to take care of her family. Kalene wasn't sure why she suddenly felt the intense need to prove these things but she did. After all, he provided her with such a beautiful home!
"Ok, Mr. Foust. You're a lucky man. Your middle and ring fingers are both just jammed. We're going to buddy strap them together to immobilize them. Try to avoid using them while healing. Ice them for fifteen minutes every hour until the swelling goes down.
