Genesis sent a private message to Nate a few months later about doing the merch table. She was worried their merch man was short-changing them and wanted to know exactly how things were supposed to go. They began chatting in messenger as friends. She'd had a crush on him for over a year. He had developed a crush on her too but would never allow himself to act on his feelings. Besides, he was terrified of what Kalene would do to him if she found out!

He was giving her advice on the merch table and what they should be looking out for. They began chatting back and forth getting to know one another better. Likes, dislikes, music, movies, books, food, tv shows. The more she got to know Nate, the more she found she liked him. Although she was much younger than he was, he found her funny and intelligent. He did like her dark sense of humor.

Over the course of several months, they began texting several times a day. Kalene never noticed how much Nate had been texting. Josie noticed, however, and began teasing her friend and bandmate. Despite the probing of her bandmates, she refused to say who she was texting so much. They had two days in Mesquite while the two tours were crossed. Tim wanted Kalene to take him around her hometown and show her around. It made her laugh since there wasn't much to show. The band were doing a little sight-seeing and were walking around near the venue they were playing at.

"Kalene? Kalene Mercer?" She heard an unpleasant familiar voice ask.

She turned around slowly as Tim quickly turned around too. Her eyes widened when they landed on the person speaking to her.

"It is you, Kalene! And here I was thinking I'd never get to see you again!" He laughed, "You gonna let me see my kid or what?"

"Who is this guy?" Austin leaned over and asked Rob who merely shrugged.

"How do you know she's your kid? I was wild back then, Theodore." She crossed her arms over her chest.

"I know you're a whore and all but there was that window where I was the only one in your pants. Shortly thereafter it came out that you were knocked up. I just put two-and-two together." Ted smirked.

"I'm shocked." Kalene retorted.

"Why's that?"

"I didn't think you were that smart, Theodore." She huffed

"Quit fucking calling me that, you fucking bitch!" He ran over and shoved Kalene.

Tim growled as his fists balled at his sides. Chance rested his hand on Tim's right shoulder in order to keep the bass man calm.

"Watch what you say about her." Austin's Georgian accent was thick as he spoke while Adam helped her up off the ground.

"Theodore, I'm warning you...leave me and her alone." Kalene growled.

"You know how much I fucking hate being called Theodore!" He screamed at her.

"Why do you think I call you that?" She smirked, "Besides, I still don't think she's your kid."

"I'll fucking sue you for her, Kalene! You'll see!" Ted screamed.

Her nostrils were flaring as she turned and walked away. Home Free's and Dead Memories' tours had collided for about a month and a half, which started about two weeks prior, and they'd get to see one another all the time. Kalene didn't want Genesis to see him if she could help it. Her heart was racing and her mind was reeling as she walked back to the venue.

Tim was having to work to keep up with her, even with his long legs. She was walking angry and he wondered why. 'Who the hell is that guy?' he thought as he watched her throw open the door to the venue and stalk inside.
