Dena knew it was time to talk to Kalene. She hated that her granddaughter was sick and in the hospital. She hated that she was going to interrupt her mother's working with this but she also knew that if she didn't tell Kalene as soon as possible, Kalene would be upset with her. Dena certainly didn't want that. She loved her daughter-in-law dearly! Taking a few deep breaths, she dialed Kalene's number.

"Hello?" Kalene sleepily answered.

"Hello sweetie. I'm sorry to bother you like this." Dena replied.

"That's ok, Dena. What can I do for you?" Kalene asked, a little more awake now.

"I wanted you to know that I had to take Genesis to the ER. She's been admitted and is in a room now." Dena explained.

"WHAT? (her exclamation woke Tim who sat up and rubbed his eyes) What happened? Is she ok?" Kalene's heart began beating faster.

'Genesis is still getting over what Ted and his idiot cousin had done to her and now she's in the damned hospital? My poor baby can't take much more!' Kalene thought with a huff.

"She's been sick for over a week and progressively getting worse. The last two days she's spent in bed. I took her temperature earlier and it was 102. I gave her two Aspirin and went to make some homemade chicken noodle soup. The poor girl was just burning up under her covers where she was shivering.

As I was pouring us a bowl of soup, she came downstairs stumbling around. I took her temperature again and it had gone up to 103. She was complaining of being nauseas, having the chills and fever, extreme tiredness, coughing, and that it was hard to breath. It was then that I took her temperature again. Seeing that it had gone up, I immediately took her to the ER.

They took blood and did a chest x-ray where they discovered she had a severe case of pneumonia. She's also dehydrated so they're giving her IV fluids and antibiotics. She'll be here for a few days the ER doc told us. She's pretty much been sleeping when they haven't needed her." Dena explained.

"Oh my God. Do I need to come back?" Kalene inquired making Tim scooted even closer to her.

"No, sweetie. I have this. You enjoy your time in New Zealand. I just wanted to keep you informed about your daughter. The doctor thinks she acquired it because she's stubborn and hasn't been breathing deeply enough." Dena explained.

"Are you sure? I can catch a flight pretty quick." Kalene retorted.

"I'm sure, honey. There's not much you can do anyway. Even when she's released, she needs rest to recuperate. It's best for you to stay there. As I said, enjoy your time there. Let me handle this, ok?" Dena smiled into the phone.

"If you're sure. Thanks for keeping me informed. And thanks for looking out for her. It means a lot." Kalene stated.

Tim began slowly rubbing circles on her back as he waited to find out what was going on.

"She's my granddaughter. Of course, I'll look out for her." Dena chuckled, "You have a job to do. We'll be fine here, I promise. And I'll be sure to keep you in the loop about her care."

"Thank you, Dena." Kalene sighed before hanging up the phone and leaning into her husband.

"Baby, what's going on?" Tim rubbed her upper arm gently.

"Genesis is in the hospital. She's got pneumonia. Doc thinks it's because she wasn't breathing deeply like she should have. Said it's a bad case. She's going to be there for a few days." Kalene explained.

"Damn." He replied, "Are you ok?"

"I told her to breath deeply even though it might hurt!" Kalene stated.
