Adopted!

Ted called a lawyer to sue her for custody of Genesis. He was preparing for court. He even had his cousin come over to help him prepare a room for his daughter at his house.

"You sure you're gonna win?" Quentin asked.

"What judge will say no to me when she's kept my kid from me all these years? They'll say I deserve a chance to be a father to my kid and give me custody!" Ted slapped his cousin's back with a grin.

"Yeah, you're right." Quentin laughed, "Besides, she doesn't have a home, she's always roaming about. That'll go in your favor too. (both laughed) What are you gonna tell the kid about what happened between you and her mom?"

"The truth! Her mom deliberately kept her from me." Ted retorted as they painted the walls pink.

"Hey! What if the kid really doesn't want anything to do with you? Then what?" Quentin asked.

"She's been brainwashed by that whore of a mother of hers. We'll have to un-brainwash her." Ted grinned evilly.

"Hmm. True." Quentin replied, "She needs to know her father's side of the family!"

"Exactly! She needs to know where she comes from." Ted said.

"Mail call! Guess what I have in my hands Tim and Kalene?" Luke called out as he boarded the bus.

"Mail?" Kalene retorted making everyone laugh.

"Of course, silly!" Luke chuckled, "But mail from a certain law office."

Kalene's eyes lit up as she snatched the manila envelope out of his hands making Adam chuckle. She tore into it to read over the paperwork. There it was in black and white. Tim was officially Genesis' father! The adoption papers were here! She flung herself into her fiancé's arms as silent tears ran down her cheeks. It was a huge burden off her shoulders knowing that Ted couldn't get to her daughter since Tim was officially and legally her father. Now it was a matter of having her name legally changed to Genesis Foust.

"Everything ok, Kalene?" Chance inquired.

"The adoption papers came in." Tim explained making several people nod in understanding.

"I need to tell Gen. The next time they have time off, she needs to go and have her ID changed over." Kalene sniffled.

"We need to tell Mom. She'll be over the moon that things are official now." Tim chuckled as he took his phone out of his pocket.

Tim: mom, the adoption papers came through, Genesis is officially my daughter!

Kalene: sweetie! The adoption papers came in today! Tim is officially your dad. The first chance you have to go home, you need to go and have your ID change to reflect having his last name! :D

Dena: that's wonderful news! Now I can honestly call her my granddaughter! I'm so happy for you, baby!

Genesis: does that mean that Ted guy can't take me away from you and Tim? Do I have to keep calling Tim by his first name or do I call him dad?

Kalene sat back and thought about her daughter's question. She was legally Tim's daughter now. She should call him dad.

Kalene: well, since the adoption is legal, you should probably call him dad. But you call him whatever feels right to you. He loves you almost as much as I do.

Dena: Is she going to start calling you dad now?

Tim's eyes widened at that question. He'd never thought about it before. Someone calling him 'Dad'. It felt odd. Sure, he'd heard Genesis call him that but it was during a fight when it was more prudent to say than trying to explain he was her mother's boyfriend. 'What would she me?' he thought to himself.

Tim: I guess she'll call me whatever she feels like, lol.

Dena: she'll call you dad.

Tim raised his eyebrow even though his mother couldn't see it.

Genesis: I'll call him Dad. He's been there for me when no one else was. Besides you, of course. He's acted like a dad, ya know? And he loves me enough to actually adopt me instead of just being my step-dad.

Kalene: that's your decision sweetie!

Tim: How do you know, mom?

Dena: I just know, baby. She loves you like a father.

Tim had to smile at that. He loved her like his own. Genesis couldn't get the smile off her face as they bounced down the road.

"What's got you so happy over there?" Ash inquired.

"The adoption papers came in. Tim's officially my dad." She explained, "I'm officially a Foust now. Miss Dena is my grandma."

"Congratulations!" Rachel said from the kitchen table.

"I need to have my ID changed over to reflect my new name though." Gen stated.

"I'll take care of it." Rachel said.

"Thanks. I'm so happy that we'll be a proper family. He won't just be my step-dad. He loves me enough to adopt me and make me his own." She rambled.

"Tim's the one that gave you the advice about me?" Nikki asked.

"Yeah. I went to him because I thought he'd know how to handle the situation with your ex." Gen replied.

"He's a great man." Nikki chuckled, "I owe him for giving you such good advice."

"Nah. I'm just glad you took what we said to heart and left that idiot." Josie patted her leg.

Genesis changed Tim's name  in her phone to 'Dad' and Dena's name to 'Grandma' making herself smile. It might not mean much to most, but she was liking having a family besides her mother. Not that she didn't love her mother! Tim has a big family. She now has an aunt Emily. 'Perhaps I should get Dad's father's number too? No, that might be too much.'  she thought as she bit her lower lip.

Tim: dad, the adoption papers came through today. I am officially Genesis' father! Kalene and Genesis are both super excited about it :D

Regan: congratulations son! She seemed like a lovely girl! How old is she now?

Tim: 18 if you can believe it. Her band is going places so she's hardly at home like we are, lol!

Regan: well I'm happy to have her as my granddaughter, son. When are you and her mother getting married?

Tim: we're working on plans now. Her ex is trying to sue her for custody of Gen, which is dumb since she's 18, so we're trying to get married asap. I'll let you know when we have a definitive date.

Regan: thank you. I'd love to be at your wedding. I really like Kalene. I hope you know that, son.

Tim: thanks dad 😊

Tim: hey squirt, my dad says that he's happy to have you as his granddaughter!

Genesis: aww! I'm so thrilled to have a family. Not that I don't love mom or anything. Now I have grandparents, an aunt, some great aunts and uncles...it's awesome!

Tim: I'm glad you like being part of my family. They like you two being a part of the family too! Uh oh, I gotta go. Love you, squirt.

Genesis: love you too, dad!

Tim stared at his phone. She was calling him 'Dad'. He knew it was coming. He figured it would take her time to transition from calling him Tim to Dad. Guess he underestimated how much of a father-figure she needed and wanted in her life! Would he ever get used to being called 'Dad'? Grinning to himself, he knew he would.

A/N: I know there was a lot of texting going on. A little fluff I guess, some cuteness for you about Tim and Genesis' new relationship status ;)
