Chapter 9

Jason

In my dream, my vision was blurred. All I could see was a shadow standing in front of me. But it spoke with a voice like a dagger.

“Jason my boy, It’s your old pops. Listen, your girl is in danger. You need to keep an eye on her. Or you both will be locked in a cage with Satan.”

“But grandpa, I don’t understand, what am I running from?”

“The better question is, who are you running from?”

“Andrew?”

“Right on the nose me boy! But anyway I’ll give you the prophecy that should help you.” I waited for him to continue.

The devil’s son comes between god’s son, one fueled with rage, One fueled on love. They both face in a battle to the death.” I processed this for a moment. This is without a doubt talking about Andrew. He wants Aimee dead so that I will be depressed. But is that it?

“Grandpa, why is Andrew so motivated to kill the girl I love?”

“That you must find out yourself. Until then I will be looking out for you.” My dream then faded, and I woke up with Aimee beside me; fast asleep. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and brushed the hair out of my eyes. I took a long look at Aimee. She looked so much younger asleep.

I remember vaguely of what happened last night. All I know is that her mother is now dead. The nighthawk incident wasn’t such an incident after all. And I just had sex with her. How come my life is so difficult?

Aimee stirred in her sleep, causing my attention come back to earth. I grabbed my computer and typed an email to my brother. After that Aimee finally woke up. She looked disheveled and groggy. She saw me and smiled.

“Hi.” She said softly.

“Good morning angel.” I said into her hair as I kissed her head. She sat up and warmed my cheek with her hand.

“Did you sleep well?” She asked me. I felt resentment suddenly. I didn’t want to tell her about my dream. But I felt like it was my duty to. So I told her my vision with my grandfather. Her face lost all the blood.

“So, you’re supposed to have epic duel with Andrew until one of you dies?”

“Yep.” She nodded. But she wouldn’t let go of my hand. I could tell she didn’t want me to even put myself in danger. She breathed heavily and then suddenly stood up. I just sat on the bed and waited for her to say something.

She turned to me, tears pouring down her cheeks. But she wiped them away.

“I’m going to go grocery shopping.” I knew she didn’t want me to come.

“Aimee-“ I said but then stopped. Because she turned away. I came up behind her and hugged her waist.
