Augustus yawned loudly at the Hufflepuff table as he reached across to pile his plate with bacon, which already had a tower of fried eggs that were close to toppling.
In an attempt to 'bulk' for the upcoming quidditch match, Augustus had implemented a strict regime of eating ten times his body weight and then going for rigorous flying sessions or runs across the countryside. Besides his best efforts to get Cedric to join in, Persephone, Klara, and Cedric just watch, often confused with the boy's antics.
Eyeing his plate questioningly and pouring herself a mug of pumpkin juice, she ran a hand through her messy hair in an attempt to make it look presentable. Professor Sprout ran up and down the chaotic table, playing delivery owl as she tried to give everyone their yearly timetables. When she got to the pair, she let out a large huff and handed Augustus and Persephone each their timetable.
She looked up and down the table."Klara is still asleep, I presume?"
"Would you expect anything else?" muttered Persephone jokingly.
Klara was notorious for missing breakfast due to her long sleep-ins. It was something she did since her first year, and something the group suspected she'd be doing till the seventh year.
Professor Sprout responded with a laugh and a shrug of the shoulder. "What about Mr Diggory, he's usually the first one to breakfast?"
"I think he's down at the quidditch fields getting in a last-minute fly before the fifth year chaos goes underway, he asked me to come but I just wanted to relax" answered Augustus, eagerly putting a third mountain of eggs onto his plate.
Professor Sprout eyed the boy's plate with somewhat of an overwhelmed look, before she turned to face Persephone with her arm outstretched. "Well, I trust that you can deliver these to them before classes commence? You're all in greenhouse five with me first." With another look at Augustus, she shook her head as she started to walk towards a group of clearly confused first years, "Merlin's beard boy can you eat."
"How else do you expect your star beater to look this good Professor" He called back, comically stretching his muscles.Persephone and Augustus finished their breakfast, making their way out through the Great Hall and down to the greenhouses. Just after they made it outside, Klara came bounding over to them, her long brown hair bouncing behind her. Persephone held out the schedule to her, giggling slightly as Klara cringed at its contents.
"It's a doozy" she exclaimed, looking down at her own. O.W.L's year going to kick their asses this year, that was no lie.
Klara let out a loud groan of disgust, "double potions with Snape tomorrow. Gross. At least we have double Defense with your Dad on Friday, that's bearable."
Persephone didn't know how she felt about her Dad becoming her professor. There was no denying that she was excited, but one of the best parts of Hogwarts was the independence it brought. At least at Hogwarts, he was safe. Snape had agreed to make his Wolfsbane potions (something both Remus and Persephone weren't exactly skilled at), and gave him a safer space to transform. But what if something happened? What if someone found out? Would her friends treat her differently?
Down the path, Persephone could still see Cedric doing soaring through the air on the Quidditch pitch. Like usual, he must have forgotten to check the time and got carried away, pointlessly chasing the golden snitch for hours on end. Whilst walking, she folded his schedule into a tiny paper bird. With a touch of her wand and a whispered spell, she threw the paper swan into the air, watching admirably as it flew down to meet its owner.
The September air was cold and crisp as they made their way down to Greenhouse 5, which they found out when they got there, was full of Fanged Geraniums. As they were the first students in the plant abundant house, they immediately chose the table in the back left corner, next to the copper-coloured crop of Niffler's Fancy.
