Ace's Point of View

There is a bright light shining into my eyes...

There is the sound of whooshes and zaps around me...

There is a feeling of extreme hunger and thirst...

Where am I?

"Wake up! Wake up! Oi Ace! Wake up!" A familiar eerie voice continuously called out. "Jace, I thought I told you to be more careful around my experiments!"

"I-I... yes, it won't happen in the future." The voice of Jace replied.

I felt like levitating in mid-air, inside a dream where gravity did not exist. For a moment, there were objects inside the area, then for another moment, everything vanished. Suddenly, an outburst of bright light pierced through the sky and into my eyes.

"The patient should wake up any second now."

A sudden flow of warm blood inside my body made my arms and legs tremble. I slightly opened my mouth to tender the feeling of suffocation, allowing me to become conscious. I slowly opened my dreadful eyes to see a face right above me. My eyes instantly widened in embarrassment and fear and tried to sit upwards to avoid the face but instead crashed my forehead into their chin, forcing me to land onto the bed I was lying on again. I saw Professor Zayne and Jace staring at me, making me question myself why I was here in the laboratory again.

"What has... happened... to me?" I asked weakly.

"Some complicated things" Professor Zayne answered. "I wonder why you were trying to escape."

Horrifying flashbacks of Jace casting a magical blade and stabbing it through my neck flashed within my brain. I realised I was captured and forced to tell the truth otherwise some serious consequences will occur, but how am I supposed to tell them that I was following a random gang and trying to escape because I didn't want to kill nor fight anyone in the upcoming deathmatch. All of a sudden, Professor Zayne grinned at me and began laughing out loud.

"Thanks, Ace!" He chuckled. "Seems like you are fully healed by my magic. Servant Lavalazapalilama will lead you out into the garden mountain and teach you some combat skills."

"Yes sir" Lazapa answered as he bowed in gracefulness.

"Also, one more thing" Professor Zayne added. "If you don't look after Ace properly one more time, your head will be detached from your neck."

"Y-yes s-sir" Lazapa replied and trembled in fear before grabbing onto my hand and lead me out of the bed and into a portal inside the room.

The familiar atmosphere chilled my terrorising goose-bumps. The ever-green blooming trees reminded me of my junior camp when I was a freshman in middle school. A gentle breeze made my hair blow sideways, tangling it like wiring. A relaxing musical melody took advantage of the natural accompaniment and enhanced the scene as I turned around to see Lazapa tuning a piano that appeared out of nowhere.

It had been quite a while since I heard the melodic tune of the piano since the time of being kidnapped was lost and that I dropped out on music early on in middle school as I didn't plan to pursue a career based on reading notes. Although I felt like avoiding the instrument, my heart urged to touch the black and white keys laid out across the length.

"Ace, I wonder why Professor Zayne requested me to train you in time manipulation when you can already use it." Lazapa announced as he shuffled across his seat and gave space for me to sit. "Are you a beginner, amateur, or master in combat?"

I gave off a warm smile and walked up to him with confident fingers and hands.

"I wasn't involved in a proper physical battle for quite a while," I stated. "But you'll see my skills as I try them out on you – judge my technique!"
