Ace's Point of View

I examined my surroundings, seemingly nobody was in sight, or that everyone was well hidden.

"The arena you are fighting on is mainly trees and meadows." He continued. "Now, only five out of you fifty tributes are allowed to live onwards."

Out of the nearby pines, two tributes dashed out and casted a combo spell of electrified water at me. I immediately pushed myself out of the way and casted a violent tornado at them, forcing them through a vast distance to face death down the portals beneath the floating island.

"Good luck my test subjects!" Professor Zayne informed. "I expect this battle to end in less than three hours!"

In the sky, there was a vast illusional number, which I assumed indicated the number of remaining tributes. Surprisingly, the finals only began and only thirty tributes were left. In the distance, I saw a forest of colossal trees which naturally created a great ambushing location. Taking the risk of being ambushed myself, I raced towards there with the aid of my air elemental.

It wasn't long before branches and leaves covered my vision; only minor amounts of lights were able to penetrate through the small gaps between the intersections. Sudden movements in neighbouring trees fully alerted me that other tributes were here before me. I immediately casted a powerful breeze across the forest to disrupt the navigation of the anonymous, only to be surprised by Calista, Farren, and Stella falling from the branches and colliding onto the trunks of other trees.

Dashing upon them, a sudden bolt of light flashed by my side, causing several colossal trees to collapse. I scouted behind me and was surprised again by Wyre's presence with his alliance. Ignoring them, I swooped downwards to grab onto my comrades to give them a safe landing.

"Time manipulator kid, it seems like you weren't always alone," Wyre announced as he landed behind me. "With our alliance, we can make exactly five tributes that can survive through the finals."

"Who the hell are you, you bastard!" Farren exclaimed as a golden aura glowed in his eyes.

"Ace is with us, not you!" Stella added as she prepared her hydro blast.

Obviously, I needed to choose a side between my comrades or a group with an overpowering mana manipulator. Being realistic here, I would side with Wyre and abandon my comrades as it would significantly increase my chances of survival. But with the previous favours from my comrades, I couldn't abandon them.

"We should work together in defeating Jace," I announced. "He possesses a far superior ability than all of us, which is copying our abilities!"

"Then which group will you choose afterwards huh?" Wyre argued. "If you are going to team up with those useless bastards, then I might as well just eliminate you this instant to avoid further trouble!"

"Run!" I demanded to my comrades. "He is the mana manipulator. Get as far away from him as possible to avoid getting all your mana drained by him!"

As my comrades dashed onto the branches above, I constantly blasted aggressive tornadoes at Wyre to delay his movements, but he simply consumed my spells. Acknowledging that continuing my attacks would be a waste of mana, I decided to manipulate time and slay him, but he had already seen through my thinking and instantly drained my mana. Luckily, I still had enough energy to flee. It was impossible to eliminate Wyre with mana, as he manipulates mana. Therefore, anything without mana such as daggers would create the perfect weapon for an assassination right now.

"Farren, got a dagger?" I requested. "I got the perfect plan ready to eliminate that bastard."

"Here." Farren immediately passed me the weapon. "What's the plan?"
