Josh and I rode to the store, talking about random things as we went. We set our bikes on the rack and went inside.
"What flavor do they like?" Josh asked, scanning the colorful containers.
"Probably any of the red ones." I said.
"Isn't that kind of offensive?" He asked.
"I don't think so, he's a vampire; they like red! It's common knowledge."
"I don't know, it's kind of like saying all humans like eating chocolate. But not all humans like chocolate. I wonder what kind of stereotypes vampires associate with humans." He said.
"Probably that we're all fat n' stupid," We both laughed, "Let's just get him a variety. Grab like, one of each," We both grabbed a few cans and set them in the basket, "Do we need anything else?"
"I don't think so." He answered. I paid and we went back outside, towards our bikes. That's when, I spotted something.
"Josh! Look at these flowers! They're so pretty!" I ran over and crouched down. Josh did the same, "I'm going to take one, for him." I carefully selected the flower of my choosing. My eyes landed on a pretty daisy. I cautiously took it from the bed and set it in my bike basket, along with the surge.
"Do vampires like flowers?" I shrugged.
"I dunno, we'll have to find out," I said, climbing onto my bike and kicking the stand, "Let's go!" I called, just as Josh kicked his stand. We rode off, asking each other various pointless questions about what vampires like and dislike. Once we made it to my house, I pulled out a sheet of paper, and began writting him a note. Josh came over to see.
"What are you writting?"
"I'm writting him a thank you note." He quietly watched me write:
Dear Gerard,
Thank you for saving my life. I'm so sorry for acting like an asshole last night. You're really sweet. Maybe we could get together sometime? I feel really bad for running from you. I hope you like the surge.
~xoxo Y/n
"Xoxo!? What are you trying to say?"
"I'm just being nice. Am I being too nice? Should I change it? Oh god!" I began to panic.
"No no! It's fine, I just thought it was funny. That's all. When are you gonna give it to him?" He asked, trying to calm me down.
"Probably around dusk. I can't give it to him during the day, he could die. But I can't give it to him at night, I could die."
"In between is good. Do you want me to come with you?" He asked.
"No, I should do this by myself. But, thanks for offering." I put all the items together, ready to go. Josh and I sat in the living room, watching whatever was on as I anxiously waited for dusk. Josh eventually went home, leaving me alone. Sitting, and waiting.
Finally, dusk came around, and I began to panic. Oh god, what if he doesn't like it? What if he's not home? What if he does try to hurt me? Ahhh...
I grabbed the items and set them in my basket. I rode my bike back to his house, remembering the path we took last night. I pulled up and jumped off my bike, walking up towards the door. I hesitated at first, but forced myself to knock. As the door opened, I kept my gaze low.
"Y/n?" He asked, confused.
"Hi, I um... I got you these. For saving me, and everything." I handed him the bag. I lifted my gaze to him as he looked through.
