"You have spent every night for a moon looking after him. Why? Have you not heard the stories in the camp? They call him Dog?".
I was leaving the tent which housed Aandor as the new sun rose in the morning mist. The air was called and a light fog covered the fields around us as Sophia linked onto my arm.
"Just like many of the men in this camp he has a past Sophia, does that mean we should judge him forever on it? What would Ray say if he heard you speak that way?"
My younger friends cheeks blushed with embarrassment as she looked down and nodded. "That still does not explain why you keep to his side all night?"
"It's not just the men that can have pasts as well," I winked with a cheeky smile and quickly ran away as she chased after me giggling.
I spent the rest of the day as I always did, washing the cloths and chopping vegetables with Sophia. We had just finished for the day and were heading back to the womens camp to wash for supper when one of the men came running over.
"Miss Silver, the hou - I mean... sandor. I've just been told that he was woken up. Ray asked me to fetch ya, told me you'd wanna know."
I quickly turned to look at Sophia with wide eyes, who smiled back and squeezed my hand. "Go, go on. I'll see you later on."
With a deep breath, I finally managed a smile before quickly breaking out into a run. When I reached his tent, I quickly ducked through the canvas entrance and found Ray stood over a opened eyed Sandor Clegane.
When my eyes locked on his each he looked almost fearful and he quickly shut his again. He must of thought he had died, to have woken up in a strange place and see me walking through again. A part thought maybe we were both dead, maybe this was all some sort of dream world between our own and the next life. That was a worm hole I wouldn't let myself fall down though, surviving this would be hard enough, I had to keep my mind sane.
"I'll leave you two to... catch up. I'll be right outside if you need me," Ray smiled softly as though he was hiding his own secret joke, before slowly walking out and finally leaving the two of us alone together.
"Am I dead?" Sandor grunted as he slowly pulled himself up from the small wooden bed.
"Your breathing, aren't you?" I shrugged back, pointing my eyes down to the floor and refusing to bring them back up to him.
"Aye, and looking at you. How are you
... what happened?""I don't know. I was just carrying on, trying to move on with my life and then... I don't know. The last thing i remember was falling and then waking up in this field. What happened to you though? How did you end up half dead and alone in the middle of nowhere."
"Why does that matter. This ain't your world. You wouldn't understand any more than I did yours."
My tone had been cold, but his was bitter and when I finally looked up and tried to walk towards him, he slammed to his feet and reached out for my shoulders. I could feel the tips of his hard fingers digging into my skin as his warm breath brushed my face with a soul smell of wine and fever. Finally, he grip relaxed and his brow ceased as held my breath for what was going to happening next.
"A woman... a woman did it. I was looking after one of the Starks pups and the crazed bitch came out of nowhere. How you holding up? They treating you well here?"
Sandor still had a hold of me, but now it more of a hold one would take of a loved one or friend. His eyes were still dark and cold, but they were familiar and I just wanted melt into them.
"Their good people. Godly. Building some temple for the seven. I dunno, certainty isn't New York," I half smiled as he gently folded a piece of my hair behind my ear and then ran his thumb across my jaw line and down my neck.
"So what do we do now?" He smiled.
