Winter attempted to shake all the small specks of sand off of him. "This is terrible." He grumbled, flaring his wings out to shake them.

"It's not that bad. Plus, we'll be able to leave soon." Turtle said, his eyes flickering over to the last two sleeping dragons. Kinkajou mumbled softly in her dream, smiling at whatever was going on in her head. Secretdawn, however, restlessly twitched and turned, her talons running from the monster in her nightmare.

"I still think we should wake them up. Kinkajou will be fine, and so will Secretdawn. We're wasting time." Winter's blue eyes sliced over Qibli as he spoke, blaming the SandWing who wouldn't let him wake the sleeping dragonets.

"No. Secretdawn needs this, so we wait until Kinkajou wakes up on her own." Qibli said, flashing a smile at Moon. Winter frowned. Great, Qibli was being the considerate one. Is that what Moon wanted, a considerate dragon?

With amazing timing, Kinkajou lazily blinks her eyes open and slowly sat up. She scanned her surroundings and immediately stood, her scales shifting from the calm blue of sleep to an excited yellow.

"Is it time time go yet?" She asked in a hurried tone.

Zero, who had been near silent the entire time, walked over to Secretdawn. He gently sat down next to her and placed his cold talons of her back, shaking her wing a bit. Secretdawn sat up fast as lightning, and Zero quickly scrambled back to get out of the way of her tail flinging into action. She looked around, her wings flared, her talons planted firmly in the sand and her barb tail menacingly raised. Her purple eyes squinted down to a glare, but when she saw Zero, she relaxed. She sat down elegantly, folded her wings and curling up her tail.

"Remind me to never surprise you." Zero said, grinning playfully at Secretdawn. She barked a shout of laughter, her purple eyes gleaming.

"Well, is it time to go?" Kinkajou asked eagerly. Instantly the smiled disappeared from Secretdawn's snout, and her happy mood quickly changed to a serious one.

"Yeah. We should go." Secretdawn didn't wait for anyone to respond and instead just took off to the sky. Zero followed her first, then quickly Winter leapt in the air and flared his wings, flying after the two. Maybe that would show Moon that he was brave, trustworthy and started to open up to other dragons. Even if he wasn't. Still, he felt a ping of fear as he let the breeze catch his wings. They were flying away, and the laughter was seemingly moons away. And the only thing that lay ahead was uncertainty and possible death.

****************************************

Secretdawn's protective wall had come down while she slept. She didn't realize it, but Moon got to see the dream that made her fidget restlessly all night.

And she really wishes she hadn't.

There was so much misery and despair and death- chains and being powerless and having no control and DEATH. So much death. Pain was etched into every corner and every turn in the horrid nightmare- and one dragon ruled it all. ONE DRAGON could choose to stop all the suffering, but doesn't because that dragon FEEDS off of the pain. Even more so that Scarlet did.

And that was terrifying.

Moon tried to shake Secretdawn's dream, but she couldn't stop thinking about it. Is that what she suffered through every night? Moon slightly shook her head, as if that would help to clear her thoughts. Moon glanced at the other dragonets and tried to pay attention to what Kinkajou was talking about.

"-and so I'm like still working on the Totally Epic Story of Kinkajou the Heroic." The RainWing smiled brightly. "I'm still working on the title too." Winter snorted, rolling his eyes at Kinkajou.

They flew for awhile, Qibli glancing around, seemingly calculating everything. Kinkajou and Peril talked nearly the entire time, Peril to Turtle and Kinkajou to everyone. Secretdawn mostly just kept to herself or lightly chatted with Zero, but nothing else. Winter flew beside Moon, barely saying a word. Everyone was thinking about their future. Moon wouldn't have to read their minds to figure that out.

Hours later, Secretdawn nodded toward a small island that could probably fit about 11 full sized dragons. "We land here for the night." She spoke softly, as if something about the island troubled her. She glanced at Peril. "Turtle, use your healing stone on everyone." Secretdawn added after they landed. Peril wore an angered frown as Turtle lifted the enchanted stone out of his pouch.

"How do you know about that?" Peril snapped at Secretdawn. The hybrid wore a smug look and didn't even blink as the SkyWing stomped toward her. Winter backed out of the way from Peril's lashing tail with a hiss.

"What part of seeing the future do you not understand?" Dawn smoothly replied, and a light trail of smoke flowed out of Peril's nostrils.

"You can't talk to me like that!"

"Weird, cause I'm pretty sure I just did."

Peril's blue eyes narrowed fiercely, and Moon could tell through the flicker of flames in her mind that the SkyWing was considering ways to kill Dawn. She had 6 so far. Peril growled at Secretdawn, but the hybrid flicked her wing dismissively.

"You need me now. No way you'll get there or back without me. So killing me isn't a smart option." Secretdawn smirked at Peril, then turned around and crossed the small island to sit near Zero. Moon glanced at Qibli. Secretdawn couldn't read minds, too-right?

Qibli gave Moon a worried look, Turtle a sad one at Peril. Winter turned to Secretdawn.

"So, how much longer until we get there?" He asked, briefly glancing at Turtle, who was running his stone over Kinkajou's back.

"About 2 more days of flying. So three days of flying to get there in total."

Winter nodded coldly, walking to sit next to Moon. Kinkajou flashed a sweet smile at Turtle once he was finished running the stone over her. The SeaWing quickly moved over to where Moon, Qibli and Winter were sitting and gestured toward his rock.

"Do you guys want to do it yourself, or....." Turtle trailed off, and Qibli replied by smiling at hi and taking the stone from his claws to rub it over his shoulders. Once Qibli was finished, he gave it to Moon. Then, Moon gave it so Winter and soon, everyone but Peril had gotten a turn with the magic rock. Everyone chose a sleeping spot, making sure that Peril wasn't touching anyone. The SkyWing had nearly half the island to herself because Winter said something about her moving around and killing someone in her sleep. So everyone stayed far away. Turtle put his stone back in his pouch as everyone except for Secretdawn drifted off into sleep once again.

(Okay. So. While re-reading Darkstalker Legends, I realized that it mentioned the silver scales beside NightWing's eyes being a symbol of mind reading powers. Just to clear up anything, no, Secretdawn cannot read minds. I was under the impression that the silver scales represented any NightWing power, so I'm sorry about that. Although, I feel like it's worth mentioning that Fatespeaker has those scales but is only a weak prophet. Again, sorry for any confusion this caused.)
