"Sorry Neville but we can't seem to find him anywhere." Hermione said sympathetically.

Neville nodded miserably. They had spent the first twenty minutes of the journey double checking every compartment. Trevor was nowhere to be found.

"He'll turn up eventually." Y/N said.

"Yeah." Neville said. "Well I'm sorry to take up your time."

Y/N waved off the apology, "Don't worry about it."

Neville made his way back to his compartment. Y/N and Hermione began to walk back to their own. On the way back however, they were met with another minor issue.

There was the sound of a loud yelp, making their way back to the compartment of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, they were met with a bizzare sight.

Three boys were outside the compartment, two of them were enormous for first years, and one was small and pale, with blonde hair. Unlike Ellie's golden locks however, his looked almost bleached white.

One of the large boys was howling in pain, a rat biting the end of his finger. Y/N immediately recognised it as Scabbers, Ron's rat. Eventually the boy flicked Scabbers off his finger, who flew off and hit the window. The boys then dashed away.

"What has been going on!" Hermione exclaimed. As they both entered the compartment.

"I think he's been knocked out." Ron said to Harry. He took a closer look at Scabbers. "No - I don't believe it - he's gone back to sleep."

And so he had.

"You've met Malfoy before?" Ron asked Harry.

Harry explained how he had met Malfoy (Who Y/N assumed was the blonde boy.) in Diagon Alley.

"I've heard of his family." Ron said darkly. "They were some of the first to come back to our side after You-Know-Who disappeared. Said they'd been bewitched. My dad doesn't believe it. He said Malfoy father didn't need an excuse to go over to the dark side." he turned to Hermione and Y/N. "Can we help you with something?"

Y/N frowned. He didn't care for the boys attitude.

"You'd better hurry up and get your robes on. You haven't been fighting have you? You'll be in trouble before we even get there!"

"Scabbers has been fighting not us." said Ron, scowling at her. "Would you mind leaving while we change?"

After Hermione and Y/N returned to their cabin, they sat themselves back down, and Hermione reminded him that he should also get dressed into his robes.

As Hermione was already wearing hers, she waited outside while he changed. She returned inside when he was done.

"Y/N?" Hermione asked. "Earlier, you said you were raised by muggles, are you muggle-born like me?"

Y/N shook his head. "I'm half-blood. My mother was a Witch, but my father was a muggle. They -" Y/N paused for a moment. Should he tell Hermione his mother was a criminal? He decided against it.

"They both died when I was almost two years old. A year and eight months to be precise. Professor Dumbledore told me I was taken in by a wizarding family for two years after that, but I can't remember much about them. Anyway, when I was four, the Ministry took me away and brought me to a muggle orphanage. That's where I've lived for the rest of my life."

Hermione looked sad. "Oh Y/N that's awful!" she exclaimed. "You lost your parents at such a young age."

Y/N smiled a little, "Its alright. I don't remember them at all. As far as I'm concerned, my siblings at the orphanage were my real family."

"Its still upsetting though." Hermione said sadly.

"What about you?" Y/N asked, changing the subject. "What are you're parents like?"

Hermione looked ecstatic that someone was taking an interest in her parents professions.

"They're both dentists. They're very good at what they do. If it wasn't for them, I think my teeth wouldn't be nearly as straight as they are now!"

They went on talking for most of the trip. They learned a lot about each other, their favourite colours, favourite foods and so on. At some point, Y/N let Coconut out of her cat cage. They took it in turns to sit Coconut on their laps and stroke her soft white fur.

Eventually the train stopped moving. "Oh - Y/N! I think we're here!" Hermione said excitedly.

A voice echoed through the train: "We have arrived at Hogwarts. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."

Y/N's stomach lurched with nerves. Hermione seemed rather afraid too. He quickly put Coconut back into the cage.

People pushed their way towards the doorand out onto a tiny, dark platform. Y/N shivered in the cold night air. Then a lamp came bobbling over the heads of the students and Y/N heard a gruff voice: "Firs'-years! Firs'-years over here!"

There stood an abnormally tall man, he was large and beefy, he had a best of long black hair and a large black beard. He gave Y/N a strong impression of a giant from muggle folklore.

"C'mon, follow me - any more firs' years? Mind your step, now! Follow me!"

Slipping and stumbling, the first years followed the man down what seemed to be a steep, narrow path. Nobody spoke much. Neville sniffed once or twice. Y/N took that to mean he hadn't found Trevor yet.

The narrow path had opened suddenly on to the edge of a great black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the starry sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.

"No more'n four to a boat!" The large man called, pointing to a fleet of little boats sitting in the water by the shore. Y/N and Hermione were followed into their boat by Harry and Ron.

"Everyone in?" shouted the giant. "Right then - FORWARD!"

And the fleet of little boats moved off all at once.

Everyone was silent, staring up at the great castle overhead. The little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy which his a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried along a dark tunnel, which seemed to be taking them right underneath the caste. Until they reached a kind of underground harbour, where they cambered out on to the rocks and pebbles.

"Oy, you there! Is this yer toad?" the man called to Neville.

"Trevor!" he cried blissfully, holding out his hands.

Then they clambered up a passageway in the rock after Hagrids lamp, coming out at last on to smooth, damp grass right in the shadow of the castle.

They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around a huge, oak front door.

"Everyone here? You there! Still got yer toad?"

The giant man raised a massive fist and knocked three times on the castle door.
