As they entered November, the weather turned very cold.
The Quiddich season had begun. On Saturday Gryffindor would be playing against Slytherin. To Y/N's amusement, Harry was getting newfound attention due to the 'secret' of him being Gryffindor's Seeker spreading throughout the school. He didn't know what was funnier, people bombarding him with support or people assuring him that, when he falls off his broom, they'll be waiting for him with a mattress to catch him.
Harry and Ron seemed relieved that they had Y/N and Hermione as friends, their homework was finished twice as fast and Harry seemed to be improving in classes. Y/N even lent him Quiddich Through the Ages which Y/N knew would help his Seeker skills.
Ron at first seemed reluctant to warm up to Y/N, and Y/N soon found out that the reason he had hated him so much was because the Weasely family didn't exactly have the best History with Harriet Mandeville, Ron didn't go into details.
But Ron soon found out that he had a lot in common with Y/N, and soon opened up to him, much to his brothers dismay.
Y/N was also reluctant to accept Harry and Ron, before he started school he was completely uninterested in making friends, but Hogwarts changed that when he met Hermione. He then agreed that one friend couldn't hurt, but now he had another two. He had to admit, it was a little hard to let go of his antisocial ideology.
But like Hermione, Y/N found himself liking the duo, he had lots in common with them and quickly warmed up to the idea of having them as friends. Plus, having them around had its benefits. The number of people who picked on him had drastically decreased when he started hanging around Harry, and Fred and George warmed up to Y/N too when Ron convinced them to at least speak to him properly.
Percy however, seemed more determined than ever to hate Y/N. He had somehow come up with the deluded idea that he was somehow brainwashing Ron, or getting close to him so he could betray them. It was pathetic really.
Even though they were a quartet of friends now, Y/N and Hermione still remained closer in their friendship. If someone asked Y/N who his best friend was, it would no doubt be Hermione.
Hermione and Y/N had both become more relaxed about breaking rules. The day before Harry's first Quiddich match the four of them were out in the freezing courtyard during break, and Hermione had conjured them a bright blue fire which could be carried around in a jam jar.
They were standing with their backs to it, getting warm, when Snape crossed the yard. Harry noticed at once that he was limping.
Apparently during the troll incident, before Harry and Ron barged into the bathroom, they had seen Snape lingering in the area.
Snape immedietly singled them out when he saw them. As he limped over, they quickly hid the blue flame from view, but he found a way to unnecessarily punish them anyway.
"What's that you've got there Potter?"
It was Quiddich Through the Ages. Harry showed him.
"Library books are not to be taken outside the school," he said. "Give it to me. Five points from Gryffindor."
"He just made that rule up." Harry muttered angrily. "Wonder what's wrong with his leg?"
"Dunno but I hope its really hurting him." Ron and Y/N said in unison.

The Gryffindor common room was very noisy that evening. Harry went to retrieve his book, and returned pale faced.
"What's the matter?" Y/N asked.
In a low whisper, Harry told them that he had seen Snape addressing a nasty wound on his leg, while muttering, "Blasted thing, how are you supposed to keep your eyes on all three heads at once?"
"Do you know what this means?" he finished breathlessly. "He tried to get past the three headed dog on Halloween! That's where he was going when we saw him - he's after whatever it's guarding! And I'd bet my broomstick he let the troll in, to create a diversion!"
Hermione's eyes were wide. "No he wouldn't, I know he's not very nice, but he wouldn't try to steal something Dumbledore wants to keep safe." she said.
"I agree with Harry actually." Y/N said. "It's like I told Hermione on our first week, Snape isn't just a bad teacher, he's biased and unjust, in fact, I'm surprised he even got hired. But what's he after? What's the dog guarding?"
They all went to bed that night buzzing with questions.

The next morning dawned very bright and cold. The great hall was full of the delicious smell of fried sausages and the cheerful clatter of everyone looking forward to a good Quiddich match.
"You've got to eat some breakfast."
"I don't want anything."
"Just a bit of toast." wheedled Hermione.
"I'm not hungry."
Harry looked sick, it was understandable, but he needed his strength to play, so in the end Y/N took charge of the make-sure-Harry-eats-something operation.
"Harry you need your strength." he said firmly, in his familiar listen-to-me-now voice. "Seekers are always the ones who get trampled in the match, you're no good to your team if you're starving."
"Thanks Y/N." Harry said, as Y/N loaded his plate with food.
By eleven o' clock the whole school seemed to be out in the stands around the Quiddich pitch. Many students had binoculars.
Y/N, Ron and Hermione joined Neville, Seamus and Dean (Seamus was reluctant to give a seat to Y/N), up in the top row. As a surprise for Harry, they had painted a large banner that said 'Pottor for President' and Dean and Y/N, who were good drawers, had done a large Gryffindor lion underneath. Then Hermione had performed a charm so that the paint flashed different colours.
They looked down at the pitch waiting for the players to emerge from the changing rooms, and for the match to begin.
