Christmas was coming. No one could wait for the holidays to start, especially Y/N, he couldn't wait to see Ellie again, and staying away from from some of the hostile students in Hogwarts for a while sounded nice. As an added bonus, his twelfth birthday was soon, and he'd be back at the Orphanage to celebrate with the others, Christmas and his Birthday.

"I do feel so sorry," said Draco Malfoy, one Potions class, "For all those people who have to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas because they're not wanted at home."

He was looking over at Harry as he spoke. Crabbe and Goyle chuckled. Harry, who was measuring out powdered spine of lionfish with Y/N, ignored them. Y/N didn't though.

"Save your pity Malfoy, it's unneeded from a spoiled brat like you." he spat. Snape, who had deliberately ignored Malfoy's taunt immedietly docked a point off Gryffindor.

Malfoy had been even more unpleasant than usual since the Quiddich match. Disgusted that Slytherin had lost, he had tried getting everyone laughing at how a wide-mouthed tree frog would be replacing Harry as Seeker next. Y/N put a stop to that by sneaking Trevor the toad into his robes during Transfiguration, causing the entire lesson to be delayed for ten minutes when Malfoy started freaking out like a little girl. So Malfoy, jealous, angry and humiliated went back to taunting Harry about having no real family.

Luckily, this didn't seem to bother Harry as his relatives weren't exactly welcoming with him at home, and he didn't feel sorry for himself at all. In fact, nowadays he was almost bouncing off the walls in excitement to be celebrating Christmas properly for the first time in his life.

When they had left the dungeons at the end of Potions, Y/N found Coconut loitering around the halls, apparently bored. When she saw him, she immediately jumped into his arms and stayed there, while he stroked her ears affectionately.

They found Hagrid carrying an enormous fir tree the Great Hall.

"Hi Hagrid, want any help?" Ron asked, sticking his head through the branches.

"Nah I'm alright thanks Ron."

"Would you mind moving out of the way?" came Malfoy's cold drawl from behind them. "Are you trying to earn some extra money Weasely? Hoping to be gamekeeper yourself when you leave Hogwarts I suppose - that hut of Hagrid's must seem like a Palace compared to what your family's used to."

Ron dived at Malfoy just as Snape came up the stairs.

"WEASELY!"

Ron let go of Malfoy's robes.

"He was provoked Professor Snape," said Hagrid, "Malfoy was insultin' his family."

"Be that as it may, fighting is against Hogwarts rules, Hagrid," said Snape silkily. "Five points from Gryffindor."

Snape left, and Malfoy pushed past the tree, scattering needles everywhere and smirking.

When he was sure Snape was gone, Y/N reached over and grabbed Malfoy's collar from behind. "Hang on you." he said fiercely. "I'm not letting you get away with that."

He then pointed his wand at his legs and muttered "Locomotor Mortis"

Malfoys legs sprung together as if magnetised, Y/N let go of his collar and he tumbled to the floor, unable to walk.

"Good luck trying to get around the rest of the day Draco." he said holding in his laugh as they walked away. "You'll have to wait for your sidekicks to come and free you, that is, if those gorilla's even know the counter spell!"

As they entered the Great Hall, which looked fantastic due to the Christmas decorations, Hermione tapped Y/N in the shoulder.

"Are you sure you should have done that?" she asked uncertainly. "He could report you."

"So?" he retorted stubbornly. "Snape can barge into the Common room tonight and take away points from Gryffindor until he's blue in the face and still I won't regret what I just did."

"How many days have you got left til yer holidays?" Hagrid asked.

"Just one." Hermione said. "And that reminds me, Y/N, Harry, Ron, we've got half an hour before lunch, we should be in the library."

"Oh yeah right." said Ron, tearing his eyes away from Professor Flitwick, who had bubbles blossoming from his wand.

Hagrid, confused, asked why they would be in the library just before the holidays, they responded that they were researching Nicolas Flamel. However so far they were unsuccessful.

"You what?!" Hagrid looked shocked.

They spent the next half an hour looking through the library until Madam Pince kicked them out. They went off to lunch.

"You will keep looking while we're away won't you?" said Hermione. "And send us an owl if you find anything."

Y/N and Hermione rode on the Hogwarts express, chatting, reading and sleeping until they returned to Kings Cross Station. When they exited the train Hermione's parents were waiting for her.

"Bye Y/N, see you after the holidays!" she shouted to him after a quick hug, running into her parents arms.

Y/N waved and left Platform Nine and three quarters. Annie had told him in a letter that they'd be waiting on the platform, and Y/N saw a problem straight away, she didn't exactly know how to get in the platform did she? Which meant she'd be somewhere in King's Cross Station, he just had to find her.

However, he was immediately proven wrong the moment he emerged from the barrier. He only had to walk for about two minutes before he was sent flying to the floor by something small and blonde.

"Y/N!!!" Ellie shrieked as she squeezed him so tightly he felt his ribs would crack.

Y/N laughed and hugged her in return while she screamed how much she had missed him. Passers by stared at them as they walked.

Y/N then heard another familiar laugh and looked up to see Annie beaming at them, her kind light blue eyes shimmering as she bent down and hugged him too.

"How was it?" she asked as she let him go, however Ellie had still refused to let go of him.

Y/N enthusiastically explained that his school life had been amazing, smiling and laughing as they left King's Cross and Clambered into a muggle taxi cab. He obviously couldn't say anything about magic in front of Ellie, but he stated how he had made some friends and liked them a lot, he liked his teachers and his classmates. He also didn't mention the article or how he was bullied sometimes.

Annie breathed a sigh of relief as Y/N rambled on. She had been stressing over how he was doing while he was at school, wondering if he was enjoying himself and, more importantly, concerned for his safety. But honestly, she had never seen him so animated, he seemed genuine about his friends and he smiled during the entire trip back to the Orphanage. It was a rare and pleasant sight.

She couldn't wait to see how the others would respond to his return, believe it or not, the other children had missed him a lot, especially the younger kids. Y/N didn't give himself enough credit when it came to his influence to their little family.

She also couldn't wait for the next day, when they would celebrate his twelfth birthday.
