Chapter 14

LIA'S POV
"Rebecca?"

I couldn't believe my eyes. There she was right in front of me.

"Lia!"

She ran to me crying and squeezing me to death. I started crying too. I hugged her back tightly afraid that she would disappear.

"What are you doing here?!" I asked pulling away.

"I'm visiting my grandparents with my cousin. What are you doing here? I thought you were dead!" She replied pulling me into a impossibly tighter hug.

I was going to tell her everything but I bit my tongue.

"I'm so sorry. I can't tell you."

She looked at me hurt. "Oh."

"Please believe when I say this that it's for your own good."

Vincent came and stood next to me. He gave me a look that told me we needed to go. Rebecca was staring at him. Is she checking him out? I started having a feeling in my gut but I ignored it.

"Rebecca I need you to promise me that you won't tell anyone you saw me."

She hesitated a bit but nodded slowly.

"I promise Lia. Please, whatever you're doing be careful."

I nodded my head and we hugged each other one more time. Vincent took my hand and we continued walking back.

When we got to the house we stayed outside and sat down on the porch bench. I leaned against Vincent putting my head on his shoulder.

"Thank you."

He turned to me holding my hand.

"For what?"

I smiled and said, "For taking me out today. I had fun."

He smiled and leaned in. His lips still tasted like butter from the popcorn we had at the movies. He pulled away and I pouted at him. He chuckled and kissed my cheek.

We stayed outside watching the sun set.

MARIA'S POV (surprise 🎉🎊)
I was on my way to get my loser cousin Rebecca. I was flirting with a cute biker boy. I saw her talking to some people. I hid behind a tree so I can get a closer look without them catching me.

I took a quick peek and I couldn't believe my eyes. Lia and Vincent?! So he ran away with that tramp!

I smirked to myself mischievously as I thought of the perfect plan to get her back for embarrassing me at school.

I dogged through my purse for my phone. I dialed a number and waited for them to pick up.

"Hello 911. What's your emergency?"

"Hi I happen to know the location of the missing Delia Alice Parker."

VINCENT'S POV
We went inside and everything was quiet. Ethan fell asleep on the couch with a half eaten Doritos bag on his chest. I walked into the library and found Jessie asleep also. I carried her to her room and put her in her bed. She mumbled some stuff in her sleep.

"Lucas. Please come back."

I tucked her in and kissed her forehead. I closed her bedroom door and Lia and I changed into our pajamas. We laid in my bed. I hummed The Way You Are by Bruno Mars into her ear until we both fell asleep in our arms.

I woke up early the next morning to banging on the front door.

"Delia this is the police! We know you're in there!"
