During my teenage years I've never experience what a normal life was. In the movies and books I would see the girl sneaking out to see her boyfriend or vice versa then she experiences the worst heartbreak of all time when she gets dumped. I didn't understand why she thought her life would be coming to an end considering the fact that she was always popular in school and very beautiful.

After having those images play in my mind I never thought I would ever want my life to be like hers until now. Back when I was high school I always put my studies first rather than dating and my appearances was something I never cared for.

Now that I'm twenty four, I think it's safe to say I'm a late bloomer for all the things a normal teenager should experience. I never snuck a boy in when I was younger. If anything, I snuck in a few copies of dirty books, but nothing more than that.

I never was popular. I was always the brainiac. I wasn't beautiful with all the acne and frizzy hair until now when I finally let my past behind, also known as my ex husband.

The touch tone phone in my living room rang loudly through the empty house. I was home alone for Saturday night because my parents were out for a casino night and my brother was at a friends house. Most likely at Dustin's home.

I sighed in irritation, knowing it could be Evelyn since we speak on the phone nearly every night. I threw my Seaflame book on my nightstand and stomped down the set of stairs to head into the living room so I could eliminate the noise.

"Harrington House," I said into the phone as soon as I picked up the handle.

"Kristal!" I heard my dear friend's voice. "You will never believe what my husband and I were fighting about this time."

"Evelyn," I cracked a half amused smile when I heard her voice. "You're calling me this late at night to talk about an argument between you and your husband?"

"It will only take a minute, like you have anything important to do."

"Seaflame is getting pretty good at the moment."

She scoffed on the end of her line. "It'll be quick. Promise."

I took the opportunity to place myself on the arm of the living room couch, knowing how much of a drag this was going to be, but I obliged and waited for her.

"Well, I'm trying to make my husband go on a diet because his blood pressures too high. So I made him dinner full of healthy vegetables. No salt or anything, and this man has the nerve to look at me and ask if I was tryin' to kill him!"
