I wake up late again, for the third time this week. I roll over and look at my alarm. It blinks a bright blue 10:14.

For some reason instead of freaking out I calmly roll out of bed and slip on a pair of dirty leggings and a sweatshirt.

Way to go Ellis, I think to myself.
Nothing like being late on the first day of a new class.

I grab my bag and rush out the door. Not even grabbing something for breakfast.

I run towards the community bus stop and make it just in time. I plop down in my seat that I routinely sit in everyday that I have class.

My eyes feel heavy from sleep and I wish momentarily for an iced coffee to jolt me awake.

Its a nice fall day, kinda chilly for mid-September. But the sky is a bright sunny blue and the trees have just started turning colors.

The bus screeches to a halt bring me back to reality.

I jump out of my seat and rush towards the exit trying to get in front of the slow older man sitting in the seat behind me.

So rude, Ellis.

I should have let him go ahead of me. No time for manners apparently.

By the time I reach class its almost 10:30.

I breathe a sigh of relief.

The class room doors get shut behind me as I plop down in a seat all prepared to start this class so I can finish it.

I pull out my laptop and a notebook.

Suddenly, there's a hand on my shoulder. I jump and my bag goes flying along with all my pens.

Not my pens!

I look behind me and guilty pair of blue eyes look back at me.

Collins smiles, "I was just gonna say hi."

He bends down and picks up my bag.

"I need to remember how clumsy you are Ellis." He says helping me pick up my mess for a third time.

I laugh nervously, finally reacting.

I get up and pick up my pens. "Sorry. I'm easily startled, I guess."

He gives me a smirk.

"You're in this class?" I ask more bluntly than I meant too.

"Yes." He says shifting to the seat next to mine. I feel my heart jump in my chest. "What a coincidence, huh?" He winks making my knees weak.

What is happening to you Ellis? I think to myself.

I sit down in my seat before I actually fall.

"I've heard this professor is kinda tough." I say because I needed to say something.

"Eh." Collins whispers. "I accept the challenge."

Just as he says that the professor calls for everyone to settle down so she can start lecture.

Forty-five minutes later, an assignment in hand I start packing up all my things.

"I can't believe this assignment." I say out loud getting up from my seat.

I head towards the exit and Collins calls out my name before I reach the exit.

"We should study together again." He says. "I believe you could be a real assest to me actually passing." Another one of his famous smirks plastered across his face.

"Sure," I reply slightly flustered. "I can ask Kelsey and get another group session in?"

"No." He says seriously. "I was thinking just you and I? If that's okay?"

Oh.

I blush. "Sure."

He smiles brightly. "Cool. Talk to you soon then?"

I nod,"yeah."

He then turns and stalks away throwing his hoody on.

Did he just ask me on a date?
