Sophie knew it would be useless to protest because Dex won every argument he got into.

Biana took her brother and best friend's hand as she dragged them up to her room. After Biana did the standard concealer, foundation, mascara, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, highlighter, eyeliner, lip gloss, and lip-liner and finished with a heavy duty setting spray on both Fitz and Sophie, she then changed Sophie into this dress,

"Ugh, god, this dress is the worst thing to exist, ever." Fitz said.

"Honestly, same Biana. Maybe I could try on some of your sweat pants instead?"

"Uh, ya, no. Now you guys go down stairs so everyone can admire my handy work. Heck, I made Fitz a drag queen with some extreme contouring. You didn't need any, Sophie, your cheekbones are too perfect."

"Thanks?" Sophie reliped, assuming that was a compliment.

Sophie walked down the stairs hoping the next few minutes would go away as quick as possible. When she was in everyone's sight, they gasped and oohed at her appearance. She felt like a firework, for multiple reasons.

Keefe couldn't take his eyes off Sophie, watching her carefully walk down the stairs. Keefe thought that Sophie's so pretty. Beautiful. All the time, not just when Biana dresses her up like this. Keefe was just absolutely shocked that she didn't see herself the way he saw her. He sighed, thinking of how much happier she would be once she had the self confidence he knew she could have.

Sophie blushed when she noticed Keefe's eyes trailing hers, and pulled out two of her eyelashes.

What a relief, she thought as Fitz made his way down the staircase. She heard deafening laughter as Fitz walked to the rest of their friends.

Sophie awkwardly walked over to the circle of friends gawking around Fitz. While everyone was caught up in the beauty of Fitz, she saw Keefe start coming her way.

Keefe ran his hand through his hair as he smirked at Sophie. "Hi."

Sophie had a million thoughts running through her head as she wondered what he was thinking. Did he like the dress? Did he think she looked prettier with make-up? Why should she even care? Should she really be worrying this much over a boy? "Hi."

Keefe sighed and said, "I'm gonna tell you what I think since I know you're obsessing over it. You look so, so beautiful. You ARE beautiful. Honestly, I- just- you always take my breath away, Sophie. Always." Sophie didn't even pay attention to her ever reddening face because she was so taken aback by Keefe's words. No one had ever said something like that to her.

"Did you read my mind?"

"No, it was just a very specific wave of emotions." he said.

"God, empaths, always getting up in my grill." She said with an exaggerated eye roll.

"Well, maybe it's just me."

Sophie laughed and said, "Ya, of course."

He looked at her for a long moment and took a deep breath. He ran his hand through his hair again, disheveling it even more. He said, "Hey, do you wanna go out tomorrow?"

Sophie smiled brightly. "Yes."
