I grew up in a competitive environment.

Ever since I was kid, I was trained to be the best. At an early age, I was trained to be the best dancer. By the time I was approaching my puberty, I was trained to be the best actress. As I hit the peak of my youth, I was trained to be the best idol.

But no one trained me to be the best at sacrificing my happiness.

Yet here I am, facing this cruel reality like a soldier unarmed at a battle.

"Shuang Mei, today will be the start of your filming for 'This is Fighting Robots'."

Oh, that was today.

"Hao de. What time do I have to be there?" And what will I wear?

"An hour from now... "

"What? It takes 30 minutes to go there. How can I prepare?!" I can't believe I overlooked this!

"Dui bu qi. I failed to remind you again this morning." She looks as if she's about to cry.

I feel so bad about my reaction just now. Linlin has been a very good assistant to me. Besides running my errands, she also covers my bookings and PR activities, things that an agent should be handling. "Mei you. You already told me last night. I should've noted it." I give her an encouraging smile.

I thought at first that managing my own career would be the best option for me. After all, I get to choose what to do, sift through my projects thoroughly and be able to keep all my earnings. As years pass though, the toils of not having an agency support is starting to take its toll on me.

I'm liking a candle slowly burning out its last light.

"Shuang Mei, are you alright?"

I look up to the kind eyes staring back at me. Linlin has been a very good source of support for me as of late. "I'll be alright, Linlin. I'll take care of my outfit. You can rest for a bit now."

Maybe that's what I also need.

Rest my exhausted heart.

Rest. That's what I need.

I can't remember the time I was this tired.

"Yang Ge, are you alright?"

I look at Wu Chun and smile. We're on set taking promotional photos for our upcoming series, Martial Universe.

"Just a bit tired, Chun Ge." I massage my neck as I feel it aching.

He sighs. "Yeah. We've been here since morning. Can you believe I have to rush off to another briefing after this?"

I check my phone to see if she texted. "You have a new show?"

Still no text from her.

"Yeah. I'm with Yishan and Xiao Shuang on this one."

I look up at him upon hearing her name.
