Chapter 24

Erika POV

I am so sick and tired of sitting in this house and I need to get out. Well since Jake is no longer home to tell me to stay in bed I made a decision, with the help of Caleb, that we were going to visit Jake at work today. Oakley was 3 weeks old and I had only left the house a handful of times and only 2 times with both kids by myself so this was going to be an adventure for sure.

" Caleb come here bubba," I said as he came running into his room where Oakley laid on the floor on her stomach and I was in Caleb's closet picking out clothes. Once I had them I walked over to Caleb and Oakley where Caleb was laying next to her and I picked him up as he went limp in my arms.

" nope quit it right now," I said as Caleb whined at me

" Caleb stop, we're going to see daddy but you have to get dressed first," I told him as I laid him on the changing table. I changed his diaper before I put a pair of skinny jeans, a t-shirt, his jean shirt over his t-shirt, and then his vans while periodically checking on Oakley. I sat him on the ground and threw the diaper away before I picked a winning Oakley up and walked to her room. Caleb was following closely behind me and the second we walked into her room, Caleb threw himself at her stuffed Zebra in the corner. I grabbed Oakley an outfit while holding her in one arm and then I laid her on the table and changed her diaper before I sat in the rocking chair and nursed her. As I was trying to get her to latch she would latch but it wasn't strong so I kept having to squeeze myself for any milk to come out. 

" mama," Caleb said as he walked over to me

" what bugs," I said as he pointed out the door.

" what do you want Caleb," I asked him as I held Oakley in one arm and covered her body with a blanket with the other since she was clothe-less.

" dada," he said as I smoothed out his hair.

" we're gonna go see him in a minute after mama feeds the baby." I told him as he pouted at me

" you're fine for now," I said as he laid his head on my lap. I ran my hands through his hair as I fed Oakley. Oakley's sucking got a little stronger but it was still weak and I kept having to help her out.

Once Oakley finished eating Caleb was back on the floor playing with the Zebra. I burped Oakley before I laid her on the changing table to dress her. Once she was dressed I laid her in her crib as I  packed the diaper bag. Once the bag was packed I picked the baby back up and grabbed Caleb's hand. I had already been dressed so we were ready to go now. I helped Caleb down the stairs and I snapped Oakley into her car seat and covered her with a blanket before I picked up the car seat and the diaper bag and ushered Caleb out of the door into the garage. I snapped Oakley into the car seat base and then I buckled Caleb into his car seat. I opened the garage before I put the diaper bag in the passenger seat and pulled out. I made my way to the White House and as I pulled up I pulled out my ID and gave it to the man at the gate. I pulled through and parked next to Jake and then I got Oakley out and strapped her to my chest before I unbuckled Caleb and grabbed his hand as I grabbed the diaper bag. We walked towards the side entrance and I scanned my card again before we walked through the security. As we walked through Jake's building everyone was stopping us to look at Oakley since they hadn't seen her except for one other time. 

" mama," Caleb said as he pointed to Jake's office. He had been here quite a few times so he knew which office belonged to Jake.

" hold on one minute," I said as I talked to one of the secret service wives. 

" well it was good seeing you and this beauty," she said as Caleb pulled me towards Jake's office.

" Caleb Alexander Paul if you do not stop we will go back home," I said as he stopped pulling me. We walked towards the office and when we got there Caleb knocked before we walked in.
