Chapter 18

4 months later 

Jake POV

Caleb is currently 8 months old and loves to talk to me and Erika. He babbles constantly and can even sit up by himself now.  We moved him out of our bedroom 3 months ago when he started sleeping through the night and he was sleeping in his crib. Today I have the day off and so does Erika... President Regan wanted to see if my men could function without me so he has me waiting on standby incase something happens but as of now I am relaxing with my wife. It's August which is a busy time in Washington. Erika has been really sick lately though and she's been throwing up a lot. Right now it's 7 AM and she is leaned over the toiler puking her guts out while I hold her hair back.

" do you want a water babe" I ask her as she sits back against the wall next to out toilet. She gently nods her head as she places her hand on her forehead and moans. 

" do you want to go to the doctor." I ask her as I come back into the bathroom with a water bottle.

" no" she says as I nod. I sat down with her on the wall as she leaned against me but I stayed down with her for only a few minutes because Caleb woke up. 

" go get in bed I'll get Caleb a bottle. " I said as she nodded. I walked out of our room into Caleb's room and saw him sitting up in his crib as I walked in. I turned on his light and he saw me and smiled up at me as I walked over to him

" good morning big boy. Did you sleep good" I asked him as I picked him up and walked over to his changing table. I laid him down and then changed his diaper leaving him out of his clothes. 

" you wanna  go get some food man" I asked him as I threw his onesie into the dirty clothes. We walked downstairs and I pulled up his highchair as I sat him in it and he squealed. 

"are you ready for your breakfast bud" I asked him as I cut up a banana and put it on his tray, He immediately used his hands and dove into it. By the time he was done Erika had made her way downstairs and into the kitchen to get her some coffee. 

" hey baby you fell any better" I asked her as she nodded

" yeah a lot better. I don't know what it is but once I throw up I feel 20 times better." she said as I nodded. Once Caleb got done eating his banana Erika picked him up to go nurse him. She sat on the couch and started to nurse him while I made us some breakfast which consisted of avocado toast and some egg whites. Before I could make the eggs though I heard a knock at the door. I went to it and opened it up while Erika was in the other room feeding the baby. I opened it and was met with Kade and Makenzie. 

" oh my god " I whispered as I hugged them. I knew that Erika would be surprised by them so I was trying to be quiet. I hugged Makenzie but felt something under her shirt. I bugged my eyes at her as she smiled and nodded at me. I hugged her again and then I grabbed the bag out of her hand as she walked in and me and Kade followed. 

" who was is baby" Erika said as Makenzie walked to the living room and I put the bags down. 

" me" Makenzie said as she walked around the couch and saw Erika as her jaw dropped. 

" OH MY GOD" Erika shouted which startled Caleb but he continued to nurse. 

" what are you doing here. I would get up to hug you but I'm a little busy" Erika said as Makenzie sat down beside her and hugged her

" I had to see me bestie it had. been too long. " Makenzie said as they pulled apart and Erika felt her stomach. 

" oh muy god your pregnant aren't you" she said as Makenzie nodded

" no way" Erika said as she hugged Makenzie and Caleb got done. 

" don't show my boob to everyone bud." She said to him as she quickly put her shirt down and fixed her bra.
